Columbia Northwest, Inc. plans to introduce several new folding trailers for its Somerset line.

For 2016, the Aliner factory is introducing a new line of folding trailers with a narrow body, low-profile, light weight design. The 11-foot box Chesapeake sleeps six people and is the lightest hard top folding trailer in the industry for its size. With a closed height of 47 inches and a 125-pound tongue weight, this trailer can be hauled by a variety of smaller tow vehicles.

Another new model is the Newport, which is a 9-foot box version that weighs 1150 lbs with a tongue weight of 100 lbs. The Newport sleeps five people and is the lightest hard top folding trailer on the market today. Both of these units will feature the patented stepper-door, Sunbrella 302 tenting and what Columbia Northwest calls the only totally seamless aluminum skinned roof in the industry.

“We continue to strive to produce the highest quality, most innovative folding camping trailers in the industry,” said Allan Reeping, current director of sales at Columbia Northwest. “All of our folding trailer products are built with the same automotive, double side-wall, aluminum and steel super-structure that was engineered into the former Fleetwood and Coleman folding trailers. In fact, many of the Somerset patented lift system parts and structural components can be used on older Coleman and Fleetwood trailers.

“This new product is getting back to the core of why the folding trailer was designed in the first place. It’s easy to use, easy to tow, easy to store and easy on the wallet. It’s a quality product that a family can afford to buy and enjoy for many years.”

“We are ecstatic to utilize our custom engineering capabilities with our new Chesapeake and Newport models,” said Brett Randall, president and CEO of Somerset.

The Somerset Chesapeake model will be on display at the RVIA National RV Trade Show December 1-3, 2015 at the Kentucky Exposition Center (KEC) in Louisville, Ky.
