The RV Industry continued its recent surge in April. According to the RVIA’s April survey of manufacturers, wholesale RV shipments were up 5.6% in April, compared to April of 2016.

A total of 42,295 RVs were shipped to dealers in April, up from 40,064 one year ago. Year-to-date RV shipments are up 10% to 163,161 units.

Towables were the driving force behind the increase with a 6.1% increase to 37,194. Travel trailers were up 9.2% to 28,460 and fifth were up 2.7% to 7,812. Folding campers (-32.9%) and truck campers (-31.8%) were down significant, but those are much smaller segments that didn’t have much of an effect on the overall numbers.

Motorhomes saw an increase of 1.8% to 5,100 units in April. Big gains in Class C motorhomes (+12.4% to 2,994) and Class B motorhomes (+34.3% to 471) made up for fall in Class A motorhome shipments (-18.2% to 1,635).
