Winnebago Industries, Inc., a leading recreation vehicle manufacturer, broke ground today on a $12+ million expansion project for its Winnebago Towable operations in Middlebury, Indiana. Speaking at the event was U.S. Rep. Jackie Walorski, Winnebago Industries President and CEO Michael Happe and Vice President and General Manager Winnebago Towables Scott Degnan.

“The new expansion will add capacity in this fast growing division,” said Happe. “We thank everyone who celebrated with us and attended today’s groundbreaking ceremony for an expansion that will positively impact the Company, the Town of Middlebury, Elkhart County and the State of Indiana.”

“It’s clear that companies like Winnebago continue to find a winning solution here, taking advantage of the state’s excellent business climate and skilled workforce,” said Indiana Secretary of Commerce Jim Schellinger. “We’re excited to witness Winnebago’s continued growth in north central Indiana as they plan to create good jobs for Hoosiers in the community and surrounding areas.”

The expansion plans for construction of a new manufacturing plant along with a dedicated panel lamination building. The project will add 200,000 square feet of space and is expected to be completed in late 2018.

“Our dealers have been very supportive of the new direction taken by Winnebago Towables,” said Degnan. “The Minnie family of products has streamlined the brand’s product offerings while also leveraging the iconic Winnebago brand name.”

The Minnie lineup consists of the Minnie Drop, Micro Minnie, Minnie and Minnie Plus travel trailers and the Minnie Plus fifth wheel. More information about the product lineup can be found at: https://winnebagoind.com/.
