Airstream Trailer

The RV Industry continued its recent surge in April. According to the RVIA’s April survey of manufacturers, wholesale RV shipments were up 5.6% in April, compared to April of 2016.

A total of 42,295 RVs were shipped to dealers in April, up from 40,064 one year ago. Year-to-date RV shipments are up 10% to 163,161 units.

Class C Motorhome Beauty

If the latest numbers released by the RVIA are any indication, the RV industry is as strong as it has ever been. March 2017 had the most RV shipments of any month on record.

A total of 47,579 units were shipped to dealers in March 2017, up 16.8% compared to March 2016. The RVIA gets this data from a monthly survey of manufacturers.

Travel Trailer Family

According to the latest data from the Recreational Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA), 2016 was the best year for the RV industry in more than four decades.

The RVIA reports that 2016 closed on a particularly strong note, with the best December on record for RV Shipments. December 2016 saw total shipments of 32,970 units – a 17.6% increase over December 2015.

Class B Motorhome

According to a report from the Recreational Vehicle Industry Association, the RV industry had its best September in nearly 40 years.

A total of 33,704 RVs were delivered to retailers in September, an improvement of 20.5% compared to September 2015. Towables were up 22.6%, with the biggest gains coming from folding trailers (+93.7%). Travel trailers were up 29.2%, while truck campers were down 3.3%.

Winnebago Paseo

A little while back we shared information on Winnebago’s new Paseo Class B motorhome.

Built around a Ford Transit chassis, the Winnebago Paseo is powered by a 3.5-liter Ford EcoBoost V6 gasoline engine with a six-speed automatic transmission. At 22 feet long, the Paseo sits between the 21-foot Travato and 24-foot Era in Winnebago’s Class B lineup.

Class C Motorhome Feature

The Recreational Vehicle Industry Association reports that RV shipments were up an impressive 13.4% in May to 37,955 units, compared to 33,467 units in May of 2015. This marks the ninth consecutive monthly improvement and is the best May total in 10 years.

Total RV shipments in 2016 have reached 186,214 units through May 31, which is 10.3% more than the same period last year (168,884). The biggest annual gains have come from Class C motorhomes (23.6% improvement) and travel trailers (12.7% improvement). The only segment that is down year over year is truck campers (3.2% decrease).

Fifth Wheel Scenic

According to a release from the Recreational Vehicle Industry Association, RV shipments to retailers were up 4.5% in April, compared to the same month last year. A total of 40,064 RVs made their way to retailers in April – more than 1,700 more than in April of 2015.

Towable RVs provided the largest unit gains, while all motorhomes improved by the largest percentage gains, representing 12.5% of all RV shipments this month.

Prime Time Crusader Feature

Forest River, Inc. has issued a recall for some 2015-17 Prime Time Crusader fifth wheels. The recall affects model CSF370BHQ, which was manufactured between August 26, 2014 and March 3, 2016. According to the NHTSA recall notice, 159 units are affected by the recall.

Fortunately for owners, the recall is very minor: the Federal Placard on the trailers indicated the cargo carrying capacity as 800-900 pounds, while it is actually 2700-2800 pounds.

Jayco Octane

Jayco, Inc., in cooperation with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, is recalling certain model year 2016 Octane Super Lite travel trailers manufactured November 2, 2015, to April 4, 2016.

According to the recall notice, the trailers were built without a 30amp circuit breaker. In the event of an electrical short, this may result in a fire.
