Winnebago will help host Operation LZ, a welcome home event for Vietnam veterans in Forest City, Iowa.

The Winnebago Rally Grounds will serve as the host location for a traveling Vietnam Wall War Memorial display and other key activities associated with Operation LZ as well as onsite camping accommodations.

Winnebago Towables has announced plans to expand its operations in Middlebury, Ind., creating up to 150 new jobs by 2019.

The company, which is a subsidiary of Forest City, Iowa-based Winnebago Industries, Inc. invested approximately $5.4 million in April to purchase four facilities in Middlebury that cover 277,330 square feet on its 31-acre campus, which was previously leased. The company plans to grow production at the facilities and also invest nearly $250,000 in equipment over the next few years to meet growing demand for the company’s line of Winnebago towable recreational vehicles (RVs).

Winnebago Outdoor Adventure Race

Winnebago Outdoor, the brand tasked with celebrating the Winnebago RV lifestyle, is the title sponsor of the Winnebago Outdoor Adventure Race.

The race is scheduled for June 6 and features canoe, bike and run portions. Participants will complete a 7 mile canoe or kayak race on the Winnebago River, bike 12 miles in a loop through Pilot Knob State Park and finish with a 5K race along the Hynes Spur Trail in Forest City, Iowa.

More than 10,000 visitors come to Forest City, Iowa, each year to see how things are done at Winnebago. If you’ve ever wanted to see how RVs are produced, now is the time as the iconic RV manufacturer is inviting the public its facility for a free factory tour.

“If you haven’t participated in our facilities tour – you are missing out,” says Winnebago Director of Marketing Chad Reece. “The tour not only shows you how our motorhomes are built from start to finish, but also highlights the technology and innovative designs that set our motorhomes apart from the rest.”

The burgeoning class of compact, fuel efficient motorhomes is being dominated by Winnebago, which has been aggressive in building new models.

According to Statistical Surveys, Inc., 5,441 motorhomes were retailed in the compact motorhome category in calendar 2014, 2,382 (43.8%) of which were Winnebago motorhomes. Since 2006, 27,939 have been retailed in the compact motorhome category, 13,750 (49.2%) of which were Winnebago products.

Winnebago has announced a plan to purchase a 33,400 sq. ft. building in Waverly, Iowa, for expansion of the Company’s subassembly operations.

“Increased consumer demand and elevated retail activity have resulted in the need for us to expand our motorhome manufacturing capacity,” says Winnebago Chairman, CEO and President Randy Potts. “We were pleased to locate a facility that will meet our immediate needs for additional sub-assembly space, and which is also essentially move-in ready. The new facility is also within 100 miles of Forest City, which will enable cost-efficient transportation of component parts to our main campus.”

Winnebago E-Coat Parts Dip

Winnebago has installed a $7 million electro-deposition (e-coat) paint system in the Company’s motorhome chassis prep facility in Forest City, Ind.

“This new system is unique to Winnebago and keeps us ‘best in class’ among motorhome manufacturers,” says Winnebago Chairman, CEO and President Randy Potts. “We use an extensive amount of steel in our motorhomes for strength and durability and we find it vitally important to protect the steel through an e-coat process to help reduce corrosion. We take pride in going above and beyond to deliver a true quality advantage that helps extend the life of our motorhomes. No one else in the industry has this capability.”

Winnebago’s Touring Coach line sold better than any other Class B motorhome model in North America in 2014.

The Winnebago Touring Coach line has achieved 83.7% growth in volume in 2014 with 551 units retailed in the U.S. throughout Calendar 2014, or 25.4% retail market share, compared to 300 units in Calendar 2013, or 17.0% market share.
