Jayco Milestone

(Press Release) Jayco Corp., the world’s largest privately-held recreation vehicle manufacturer owned by the Bontrager family, announced that in April its four divisions, Jayco, Entegra Coach, Starcraft RV and Highland Ridge, produced its 1,000,000th unit since the company began in 1968.

“We are very proud of our accomplishment of providing 1,000,000 families a means to fulfill their dream of owning an RV. It feels good to be able to accomplish, at such a high volume, what our father and mother set out to do nearly 50 years ago” said Wilbur Bontrager, Jayco’s chairman of the board. “But we’d be amiss if we didn’t recognize the great support we’ve had over the years from our dedicated employees, loyal dealer body, and the RV industry as a whole.” Read Full Story →

Prime Time Crusader Feature

Forest River, Inc. has issued a recall for some 2015-17 Prime Time Crusader fifth wheels. The recall affects model CSF370BHQ, which was manufactured between August 26, 2014 and March 3, 2016. According to the NHTSA recall notice, 159 units are affected by the recall.

Fortunately for owners, the recall is very minor: the Federal Placard on the trailers indicated the cargo carrying capacity as 800-900 pounds, while it is actually 2700-2800 pounds. Read Full Story →

Jayco Octane

Jayco, Inc., in cooperation with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, is recalling certain model year 2016 Octane Super Lite travel trailers manufactured November 2, 2015, to April 4, 2016.

According to the recall notice, the trailers were built without a 30amp circuit breaker. In the event of an electrical short, this may result in a fire. Read Full Story →

Western RV Country

(Press Release) Western RV Country serves 11 cities across the province of Alberta. One of those communities was especially hit hard last week with the devastation of the wildfires burning across Fort McMurray.

Western RV Country’s 200 employees wanted to make a difference, so they came together and raised $12,945 to support relief efforts. Company owner Bruce Urban will match this number, bringing the companywide donation total to $25,890. The federal government will also match this number, bringing a total contribution to $51,780. The new A.C.E comes with a new Brazilian Cherry wood option, which gets its name from its natural cherry color. A cool new Arctic Frost Interior is an additional interior option. Further interior updates encompass the vinyl floor, countertops, wall board colors and border trim. Up to 12 new features updates have been incorporated, including blank tank flush for all floor plans, vent covers on attic fans, and handy LED bed overhead reading lights. Forest River Wildcat

(Press Release) The Wildcat division of Elkhart, Ind., based Forest River, Inc., is pleased to announce the introduction of an all-new travel trailer targeting the high-volume, mid-price laminated trailer market.

“Following up on the success of our fifth wheel redesign last fall, we’ve hit another home run with our travel trailer launch,” said Chris Saal, Wildcat Sales Manager.  “Our dealers were very specific with what they wanted this trailer to be.  That included an emphasis on exterior and interior styling, an emphasis on functional floorplans, and an aggressive price point,” he said. Winnebago Minnie 2500RL Exterior

(Press Release) Winnebago has released the 2500RL floorplan for its Minnie line of travel trailers.

The new Minnie 2500RL features an open living space, master bedroom and an easily accessed bathroom. At 27’11” long, the 2500RL has one slide housing the dinette and a large open space in the living area. Within the living space there is a jack knife sofa, galley kitchen and opposing dinette slide. In addition, the TV is positioned conveniently in the living area to allow for viewing from the dinette or sofa.

“The 2500RL is a functional and versatile trailer,” Winnebago Towables Director of Marketing Mark Gerber said. “It is a wonderful couple’s trailer with the option of accommodating overnight guests with easy conversion of the dinette and sofa into beds.”

Adding to the unit’s functionality is a complete galley featuring standard items such as a large Dometic refrigerator, microwave, three-burner stove top, oven and ventilated range hood. In addition, the galley offers ample counter space and a stainless steel sink.

Moving to the front of the unit, the master bedroom has a queen bed and wardrobe along with storage space above the bed and a conveniently placed light for night-time reading. Adjacent to the master bedroom is a spacious private bathroom with two doors for entry from either the bedroom or living space.

Vinyl flooring is used throughout the trailer for added convenience and easy cleaning.

Dometic Logo

In response to a class action lawsuit filed last week, which you can read about here, Dometic Americas president Frank Marciano sent out the following message to Dometic’s RV OEM customers, dealers and retailers:

I would like to take this opportunity to provide the industry with an update in light of the class action complaint filed against Dometic Corporation in California last week.

First and foremost, we place the highest priority on the safety of our products and those who enjoy them.  We are proud of our safety record, rigorous testing protocols in our factories and CSA certification of our refrigerators.  A decade ago, out of an abundance of caution, we issued a recall to address a potential safety defect with some of our refrigerators manufactured prior to 2006—a recall which we expanded in 2008. Class C Motorhomes

According to a release from the Recreational Vehicle Industry Association, RV shipments to retailers totaled 40,740 units in March of 2016. This is the single best monthly total since March of 2006 and is 13.9% higher than February and 11.5% higher than March of 2015.

First quarter shipments of 2016 have climbed to 108,195 units, which is 11.5% more than the first quarter of 2015.

“On a seasonally adjusted basis, 1st quarter shipments were running at an annualized rate of more than 430,000 units, 12.2% ahead of the pace reported for this same period last year,” RVIA says in a release. Read Full Story →
