Jayco Seismic Toy Hauler ProfileJayco has begun production of its all-new 2013 Seismic toy hauler. According to Jayco, the Seismic offers everything you’d expect in a traditional fifth wheel, but with a spacious garage.

“We recognize the market for sport utility trailers is more sophisticated today than ever before,” says Sid Johnson, director of marketing for Jayco. “Consumers want more than a garage attached to a sleeping area. Our goal is to provide a fifth wheel which offers top-level amenities yet still provides room enough to carry whatever toys a family might want to bring along.”

Jayco Seismic Toy Hauler GarageSeismic’s garage can convert into a bunkroom, patio deck or dining space. In addition to hauling ATVs and motorcycles thanks to in-floor mounted D-rings, Jayco says families can also pack bicycles, games, canoes and other traditional outdoor gear. The garage can also be converted into workspace for crafters who sell their wares or dog show owners who need a grooming station.

Jayco, Inc. has announced that it has launched a long-term Sustainability Initiative designed to insure minimal negative impact by its products and processes on human health and the environment. As part of the initiative, the company has set a number of ambitious strategic goals to be met over the next five years.

“At Jayco, sustainability means meeting our current manufacturing and resource needs without compromising future generations’ ability to meet theirs,” says Wilbur Bontrager, Jayco’s chairman of the board and CEO. “We build products that allow our customers to enjoy the outdoors and the environment. Therefore it makes sense that we should strive to be a good corporate citizen and a good steward of the environment.

“Our first goal is the most robust of all – that is our pledge to be landfill free by the year 2015,” says Bontrager. “This means that in four years, all waste that is currently generated in the manufacturing process or office workspaces will either be eliminated or recycled and no longer sent to the landfill.”

starcraft0506In a move brought on by improved economic conditions, the Starcraft RV division of Jayco, Inc. has resumed production in its Topeka, Ind. plant.

The Starcraft facility had previously been closed and production of Starcraft products had been consolidated into Jayco’s Middlebury, Ind. complex as part of Jayco’s efforts to trim costs and reduce production capacity.

“When we consolidated the Starcraft operations into Jayco’s Middlebury campus, we indicated that our goal would be to reinstate the operations in Topeka as soon as market conditions would allow,” says Jim Jacobs, Starcraft RV general manager. “We believe that time is now. The year has started off on a pace well ahead of last year both in shipping and in retail sales activity. We continue to be optimistic that 2010 will be a much improved year for our industry.”

jayco-lg0426Jayco, Inc. has announced that all of its products, including brands produced by Jayco, Starcraft RV and Entegra Coach, have been “green certified” by TRA Certification, Inc., an internationally accredited certification organization.

This makes Jayco the first major RV manufacturer to be 100 percent green certified and fully-recognized for building products with green manufacturing processes and materials.

There are four levels of TRA’s green rating for RV manufacturers: Bronze, Silver, Gold and Emerald. The majority of Jayco, Starcraft and Entegra Coach products achieved Emerald ratings in three out of five categories (water efficiency, indoor environmental quality, and operation and maintenances) and Gold ratings in the other two categories (resource efficiency and energy efficiency).

starcraft0303In a sign that the RV industry is beginning to rebound, Starcraft RV, a division of Jayco, Inc., announced that it will reopen its Topeka, Indiana manufacturing facilities in May.

The Starcraft RV plant has been closed since January, 2009 as part of the Jayco corporate efforts to trim costs and reduce production capacity. As you’d expect, this was done as a result of the stumbling economy.

According to Starcraft RV, production of Starcraft Autumn Ridge travel trailers will initially move from its Middlebury, Indiana complex, creating 50 jobs at the Topeka facility later this year. Over time, company officials anticipate that production of most, if not all, Starcraft RV product lines will be relocated back to the Topeka plants.
