Best Class C Motorhomes of 2018

We’ve put together a list of five of the best Class C motorhomes for 2018 to help get you started as you shop for a family motorhome.

A Class C motorhome is pretty easy to spot thanks to its cab-over chassis design. These motorhomes are built on a commercial truck cab frame, or what was commonly called a box van. These may be the most popular motorhome on the road today thanks in part to ease of driving and lower costs to get into the motorhome initially.

Being built on the same basic frame and drivetrain as today’s popular rental moving trucks, anyone can drive a Class C motorhome. They’re lower in initial costs than bigger motorhomes, like the Class A models, too. Their construction tends to give them a higher value down the road a way, too. A nice point for those worried about resale value and loan rates. Here are some of the best Class C motorhomes coming to dealer lots this year.

Jayco Milestone

(Press Release) Jayco Corp., the world’s largest privately-held recreation vehicle manufacturer owned by the Bontrager family, announced that in April its four divisions, Jayco, Entegra Coach, Starcraft RV and Highland Ridge, produced its 1,000,000th unit since the company began in 1968.

“We are very proud of our accomplishment of providing 1,000,000 families a means to fulfill their dream of owning an RV. It feels good to be able to accomplish, at such a high volume, what our father and mother set out to do nearly 50 years ago” said Wilbur Bontrager, Jayco’s chairman of the board. “But we’d be amiss if we didn’t recognize the great support we’ve had over the years from our dedicated employees, loyal dealer body, and the RV industry as a whole.”

Jayco Seismic Toy Hauler ProfileJayco has begun production of its all-new 2013 Seismic toy hauler. According to Jayco, the Seismic offers everything you’d expect in a traditional fifth wheel, but with a spacious garage.

“We recognize the market for sport utility trailers is more sophisticated today than ever before,” says Sid Johnson, director of marketing for Jayco. “Consumers want more than a garage attached to a sleeping area. Our goal is to provide a fifth wheel which offers top-level amenities yet still provides room enough to carry whatever toys a family might want to bring along.”

Jayco Seismic Toy Hauler GarageSeismic’s garage can convert into a bunkroom, patio deck or dining space. In addition to hauling ATVs and motorcycles thanks to in-floor mounted D-rings, Jayco says families can also pack bicycles, games, canoes and other traditional outdoor gear. The garage can also be converted into workspace for crafters who sell their wares or dog show owners who need a grooming station.

Jayco, Inc. has announced that it has launched a long-term Sustainability Initiative designed to insure minimal negative impact by its products and processes on human health and the environment. Therefore it makes sense that we should strive to be a good corporate citizen and a good steward of the environment.

starcraft0506In a move brought on by improved economic conditions, the Starcraft RV division of Jayco, Inc. has resumed production in its Topeka, Ind. plant.

The Starcraft facility had previously been closed and production of Starcraft products had been consolidated into Jayco’s Middlebury, Ind. complex as part of Jayco’s efforts to trim costs and reduce production capacity.

“When we consolidated the Starcraft operations into Jayco’s Middlebury campus, we indicated that our goal would be to reinstate the operations in Topeka as soon as market conditions would allow,” says Jim Jacobs, Starcraft RV general manager. “We believe that time is now. The year has started off on a pace well ahead of last year both in shipping and in retail sales activity. We continue to be optimistic that 2010 will be a much improved year for our industry.”

starcraft0303In a sign that the RV industry is beginning to rebound, Starcraft RV, a division of Jayco, Inc., announced that it will reopen its Topeka, Indiana manufacturing facilities in May.

The Starcraft RV plant has been closed since January, 2009 as part of the Jayco corporate efforts to trim costs and reduce production capacity. As you’d expect, this was done as a result of the stumbling economy.

According to Starcraft RV, production of Starcraft Autumn Ridge travel trailers will initially move from its Middlebury, Indiana complex, creating 50 jobs at the Topeka facility later this year. Over time, company officials anticipate that production of most, if not all, Starcraft RV product lines will be relocated back to the Topeka plants.
