RVDA Partners With Rand McNallyRand McNally and the Recreation Vehicle Dealers Association of North America (RVDA) are working on a project that should help RV enthusiasts easily find service providers and RV dealers while they’re on the road. The information, available this summer, will be included in new mobile phone apps and website maps and directions, as well as on board Rand McNally’s TripMaker RVND GPS units.

“RVers have unique service needs while on the road; providing RV dealer information across North America in a variety of formats will certainly assist them whether it’s an emergency or a routine visit,” says Dave Muscatel, CEO of Rand McNally. “RVers will be assured of top-tier service provided by RVDA member organizations.”

Rand McNally is developing a dealer-locator application for iOS and Android mobile phones. This app is designed to enable users to access a listing of nearby RVDA member dealers across the U.S. and Canada. Each listing will include critical information such as hours of operation, contact information, and services provided, as well as up-to-the-minute deals and specials available. Marketed by RVDA to their membership, this app will be available mid-summer, 2012.

Rand McNally has recently released what it’s calling the first navigation device designed specifically for RVers – the TripMaker RVND 5510.

“We’ve listened carefully to members of the RVing community, who told us overwhelmingly that they would be interested in purchasing a GPS if it provided RV-specific routing, stops and amenities that RVers need while on the road, and things to see and do along the way,” says Dave Muscatel, CEO of Rand McNally. “Our new TripMaker® RVND™ line will solidly deliver on these expectations.”

According to Rand McNally, the TripMaker RVND 5510 layers on all the information needed to have an enjoyable and safe trip in an RV. The routing includes legal (including propane and other RV-only), height and weight restrictions, right or left-turn preference based on eleven different RV types, and a quick reference to the Rand McNally Road Atlas. Turn-by-turn spoken and text directions is intended to keep the driver focused on the road ahead.
