Thor Industries, Inc. is reporting impressive RV sales figures for the quarter and nine months ending April 30, 2011.

According to Thor, RV sales in the quarter were $739,450,000, up 32% from $559,166,000 last year. RV sales in the third quarter of Thor’s 2011 fiscal year include Heartland RV, acquired September 16, 2010. RV sales in the nine months were $1,683,124,000, up 31% from $1,284,891,000 last year.

“Thor had solid sales performance in the third quarter,” says Peter B. Orthwein, Thor Chairman, CEO & President. “The RV market is well balanced today, with dealer inventories better aligned with current demand, a healthy backlog, an improving promotional environment, and better conditions in both wholesale and retail credit. However, we continue to feel pressure from escalating fuel prices and other commodity costs. Thor’s retail RV market share has grown in each of its reported segments, according to the latest Statistical Surveys retail sales results as of February, 2011.”

dutchman0504Thor Industries, which owns many of the RV industry’s largest brands, saw impressive sales for the third quarter of its fiscal year.

RV sales for the three months ending April 30, 2010 totaled $558 million, up 79 percent from $312 million last year. Thor’s success has lasted for ninth months now as RV sales for the company totaled $1.28 billion through the first three quarters, up 65 percent from $777 million last year.

“The RV industry continues a strong wholesale re-stocking trend, as evidenced by Thor’s large order backlog,” says Peter B. Orthwein, Thor chairman, CEO & president. “Importantly, Thor’s recent internal retail sales results also demonstrate substantial improvement over last year, including the March and April periods. This bodes well for a better balance between retail demand and wholesale replenishment as we move forward,”
