Thor Industries has announced several projects to expand production and office space at its Heartland subsidiary in Elkhart, Ind. The projects include the purchase and renovation of an existing office building, expansion of a plant dedicated to production of lightweight travel trailers, expansion of a production facility to produce Toy Haulers, the renovation and dedication of a single facility to the production of destination trailers and the purchase and renovation of a building for a new service center.

“Heartland has made great strides in growing our sales and enhancing our market position to the point where we need to make an investment in infrastructure to support our future growth,” says Chris Hermon, Heartland president. “In total, we are planning to invest nearly $8 million in new or renovated facilities to take better care of our dealer partners and retail consumers, at both the front end with enhanced production and the back end with superior service after the sale. We are truly excited with this expansion program as it will allow us to not only meet the needs of dealers and consumers but also exceed their expectations.”

Windsport 34J Bunk HouseWith the peak summer season around the corner, Thor Motor Coach is showcasing it’s new Windsport 34J Bunk House Class A motorhome.

“This ingenious bunk bed floorplan provides a superior overall living environment compared to other bunk bed models in the market,” Thor says in a release.

According to Thor, the floorplan design removes the bunks from the camp side of the coach, allowing parents and grandparents time outside, under the patio awning, without disturbing the kids. This move opens up space for an optional exterior kitchen in the basement. The exterior sink comes equipped with an integrated sink, portable grill, refrigerator and generous countertop area.

Flexibility to convert from a sleeping area, to a sitting area, or a full length wardrobe adjusts the as the family grows. A pair of LCD TVs allow for personalized viewing in each bunk. Once converted to a sofa, the top bunk TV can be removed and located across the hall for family viewing.

Thor Motor Coach has introduced a new 34SS Daybreak floor plan with an innovative exterior kitchen at the 45 annual Timonium RV show in Maryland.

“We’ve seen an explosion of outside kitchens on towable products, but nothing from motorhome manufacturers,” says Mike Peterson, product manager for the Daybreak. “This new upscale exterior kitchen design fits our motorhome demographic and is sure to be a home run.”

The Daybreak 34SS floor plan launched with an optional fully functional exterior kitchen on the camp-side of the coach. It features a 15,000 BTU easy clean stainless steel LP grill, 19” widescreen HD TV, and a 4.6 cubic foot mini fridge. Another industry first for a motorhome is the integrated single bowl sink. This sink drains just like the interior sinks, into the grey water holding tank. This is a very desirable upgrade compared to many trailers that simply drain onto the ground.
