2012 Itasca Suncruiser 37F Review
Hit the road in style with this feature-rich Class A motorhome
The Suncruiser comes in three different floorplans, but we’ll be taking a closer look at the 37F. It has a length of 37'5", exterior height of 12'8", exterior width of 8'5.5", interior height of 7', interior width of 8'0.5", and 121.7 cubic feet of exterior storage. In terms of water, it has fresh-water capacity (with heater) of 44 gallons, black-water capacity of 52 gallons, and a gray-water capacity of 71 gallons. For weights, it has a GCWR of 30,000 lbs, GVWR of 24,000 lbs, front GAWR of 9,000 lbs, and rear GAWR of 15,500 lbs. To keep things comfortable, the 37F comes equipped with a 40,000 BTU two-speed, low-profile furnace and a TrueAir Maximum Comfort air conditioner with two 13,500 BTU, low-profile roof air conditioners and heat pumps.
Built on the Ford F53 24,000-lb. chassis, the Suncruiser is powered by a 362-hp 6.8L V10 SEFI Triton engine, and comes equipped with TorqShift five-speed automatic overdrive transmission (with tow haul), HydroMax brakes with ABS, and a 175-amp alternator.
This Itasca class A motorhome boasts SuperStructure construction. On its top, there’s a crowned, one-piece fiberglass roof backed by a 10-year limited parts-and-labor roof skin warranty. According to Itasca, fiberglass offers superior strength and durability that won’t streak and degrade over time. Surrounding it are durable, lightweight Thermo-Panel sidewalls. These sidewalls combine fibreglass and high-density block-foam insulation, along with aluminum support structures on the inner wall surface. To ensure that cabinets and appliances are stable, the Suncruiser uses metal substructures to offer security and stability. Protecting steel components is an electrode position coating, and specially engineered interlocking joints connect the floor, sidewalls and roof into a cohesive unit.
The power to power the Suncruiser is at your control, thanks to the automatic generator start system. It will turn on the generator based on indoor temperature, battery voltage or a programmable time. Other systems that will come in handy include the OnePlace systems center that lets you monitor key systems from one location, and the PowerLine energy management system that helps prevent tripped campground circuit breakers. Finally, there’s the TrueLevel Holding Tank Monitoring System that uses sonar technology to gather data without probes that can corrode.
Other exterior features include TriMark KeyOne lock system, porch light, electric entrance steps, ladder, front and rear mud flaps, electric patio awning with metal wrap and WeatherMAX fabric, and lighted storage compartments. It also comes with the option of adding on the exterior entertainment center that comes with a 32" LCD TV, AM/FM stereo with CD/DVD player and remotes.
For the interior of the Suncruiser, you can choose from three fabric collections – Tranquil, Nightingale, and Athena. You can choose to upgrade to Ultraleather furniture for comfort that is durable and easy to clean. Cabinetry comes in Honey Cherry, Forest Cherry or Coffee-Glazed Vienna Maple finishes, complemented with satin nickel hardware.
Upfront in the cab, you’ll be sitting pretty in the pilot and passenger seats that have adjustable armrests, lumbar support, multi-adjustable recline and swivel/slide. The dash workstation lets you keep in touch by catching up on emails. Built right into the dash is the RV Radio/rearview monitor system that combines AM/FM stereo, CD player, iPod/mp3 input, and rearview camera into an intuitive 6.5" LCD touchscreen.
The Suncruiser always has a place for you to sit – on the Rest Easy multi-position lounge, the Euro recliner or the BenchMark dinette, complete with an extendable table that expands to seat up to six people. Watch movies or the game on the large LCD HDTV and home theater sound system with surround sound and a DVD player.
The full-featured kitchen in the Suncruiser comes complete with three-burner range top, stainless steel microwave/convection oven with vented range hood, and the two-door refrigerator. Giving it a splash of style are a beautiful backsplash and elegant Corian countertops. To round out this room is a generous pantry and lots of cabinetry.
The bedroom is your own private sanctuary. Watch the LCD TV from the comfort of a queen-sized bed. Or you may just want to climb into bed – and no wonder. This is no ordinary bed – it’s a powered queen bed with an Ideal Rest digital comfort control mattress and remotes. Other features include a bedroom vanity, bedspread, pillow shams and pillows, and nightstand tables.
The master bathroom in this RV is huge – there’s no sacrificing space for convenience. A big 36" x 36" shower gives you plenty of room to get clean. Corian countertops house an under-mount sink and a porcelain toilet means no visits to the outhouse. Other features include a textured glass shower door and flexible showerhead.
The 2012 Itasca Suncruiser 37F Class A Motorhome has a base MSRP of $167,224. For more information, visit http://www.goitasca.com/.
