2012 SunnyBrook Sunset Creek Review
Roomy 340 BHDS travel trailer sleeps 12
With five floorplans to choose from, we’ll be focusing our efforts on the 340 BHDS, the largest model in the series. The Sunset Creek 340 BHDS can sleep 12 and has an exterior length of 36’, an exterior height of 11’5”, an exterior width of 8’, an interior height of 6’10” and a hitch height of 21.5”. In terms of weight, it has a dry hitch weight of 880 lbs, a dry gross weight of 7,760 and a GVWR of 10,000 lbs. This travel trailer has a fresh water capacity of 56 gallons, a black water capacity of 41 gallons, a grey water capacity of 41 gallons and a six-gallon DSI gas/electric water heater.
Wherever you’re heading to, the ride will be a smooth one. The tires on the Sunset Creek are filled with nitrogen, which improves fuel economy, tire life, braking, handling and safety. As well, SunnyBrook says its SuperLube axles are high quality and feature lower maintenance and better durability. You’ll never have to worry about hidden rocks on the campground, as the Sunset Creek has a diamond plate stone guard that adds durability. And when you get to your destination, individual jack stands offer an easy, quick and maintenance-free stabilizing system.
You don’t want to be tied down to the seasons – you want to roam throughout the year. It’s a good thing that the Sunset Creek has a 30M BTU furnace and a 15M BTU air conditioner to keep things comfortable all year round. As well, it comes with optional heated and enclosed holding tanks, perfect if you want to extend your camping season.
You might not think of the doors on your travel trailer, but SunnyBrook has. That’s why the main exit door has a sliding clear pane covering the door handle area, which gives you complete outdoor visibility. As well, it features a “Poodle Panel” at the bottom of the door to keep pets from scratching the door to bits.
If you love to entertain, you’ll want to add on the outside kitchen option. This area gives you the capabilities of your inside kitchen – it comes with a two-burner pull-out cooktop, a refrigerator and a sink. The Sunset Creek comes standard with an externally accessible propane gas port that lets you hookup your barbeque. It also comes with a 20’ awning and a bike door that gives you easy access to items stored in its exterior storage compartment.
You don’t have to worry about heavy foot traffic in the Sunset Creek – this travel trailer comes with Beauflor flooring. It is resistant to mold and mildew, cold cracking, slipping and stains. That’s because it’s made from engineered composite that is resistant to tears, rips and gouges.
The Sunset Creek comes with plenty of sleeping space. The front bedroom is fully equipped with a comfortable queen-sized bed, along with shirt closets, night stands and a TV that rotates in from the living room. There’s also a rear bunk room that features two 80” bunks and two more bunks in the large slide-out. Outfitted with lots of storage and cabinets, you can also choose to upgrade with optional cube furniture.
The 340 BHDS has a kitchen that would rival the one you left at home. A double-door refrigerator, a full-sized oven, a three-burner range and a microwave oven make whipping up a great home-cooked meal easy. There’s storage galore, thanks to cabinets, drawers and a large pantry, and for clean-up and prep, the kitchen comes with a double sink and lots of counter space.
In the spacious living area, the sofa converts into a hide-a-bed when you have guests spending the night. For meals or card games, take a seat at the U-shaped dinette.
To finish off this SunnyBrook travel trailer, the bathroom comes with everything you need… and more. The large shower features a glass door and overhead skylight. It also comes with a vanity sink, an oversized medicine cabinet and a porcelain foot flush toilet.
Other standard features that come with the Sunset Creek include a three-step entry, tub surround, cable TV hookup, tinted safety glass windows, 30 lb LP bottles, a TV antenna with booster, a walk-on roof, AM/FM/CD/DVD player with interior and exterior speakers and an outside shower.
The 2012 SunnyBrook Sunset Creek Travel Trailer retails for around $32,996. For more information, visit http://www.sunnybrookrv.com/.
