Used 2014 Terra with 1500 Miles.
By Branko (I am an Owner) on Dec 27, 2021Bought used with 1500 miles, 45 hours on generator. I was told the original owners took the Terra out three times for a total of 1500 miles. After cleaning it and finding metal shavings and loose screws on the floor I believe the story. The in-line water filter was never installed. Still in its plastic ... wrap. Basically the only factory problems that I had is with quality control. As the Terra was bought in 2019 and with 1500 miles it’s not like it was ridden hard and put away wet. My biggest complaint is the right passenger wall and driver front corner mounting bolts broke. I thought the shaking of the wall was normal until I read about the same problem on an owners forum. As was stated in that forum, the whole side had to be jacked up to properly install new bolts. The tech said he believed the problem of the bolts shearing off was due to the builder using air guns that weren’t set to the right specs - over torxed and this caused the bolt to fail earlier. Secondary problem was the dinette wasn’t installed level and with the same clearance across the slide (between the floor and slide). I had my first east coast trip to the Outer Banks in 2020. The heat from the engine caused the flooring to bubble up at the drivers side behind the driver seat. I didn’t notice it in the darkness of the coach. When I opened the slide it caught and tore the flooring. Had the clearance been correct it’s unlikely that the flooring would have been torn. Price to fix the slide and flooring $700. The thing is the repair is seamless. The couch seat hold down brackets are not installed correctly. A lag bolt was screwed into the floor with washers that loosened up a backed out. The obvious hold down wasn’t used to secure the couch. Not related to quality control, just bad luck. The vacuflush was left on and burnt out. What happened is the bowl had a slow leak. That once the seal was broken caused vacuflush to run until it burnt out. We had left the Terra during the week, unfortunately the power was let on - the frig - so it ran until no more - $1800 repair by the service center in Decatur. I was told it was easy as the tech could fit inside the bay. Then I was told a hole would have to be cut into the floor. In the end I think the tank was just removed as there was expanded foam in the bay that wasn’t there before. I’d say our Terra wasn’t a bad buy, or a bad coach. For a $120k plus coach that we paid $65k with 1500 miles we didn’t go wrong. (Couple we’re parting ways and everything was going at fire sale prices - as I was told.) The only other problem was the rear camera cable got chewed up by unwelcome guess. That was $500 with a new monitor. We just put 7k on the coach, 8520 total on odometer, and it rides and handles much better since the repairs. I don’t think there will be anymore issues with the quality control. Hope this was useful.Rating breakdown
