Forest River Surveyor SV 302
By Robert (I am an Owner) on Nov 30, 2012Where do I start. Bought the trailer new and thought that I had looked the trailer over very well. Guess what apparently I did not. Qualitly inside the trailer was poor. When I got the trailer home and really inspected it I had about 20 items that needed to be fixed. Bedroom floor linoleum cut, ... no straps to hold recliners in place, one recliner no shoe on one of the legs wore hole in linoleum in 10 miles, skylight in bathroom leaked first big rainstorm, no cauling on bathroom sink to keep water from running in behind shower, vent over stove bent, curtain rod over sink screw came out found out screw not anchored in framing just in paneling, not impressed with walk on roof, it creaks and groans when walked on feel like I may damage the rubber roofing, kitchen table a joke, made out of pressboard after a few times using it to sleep on it was ruined had to rebuild the table top, dineete seating area a joke. Framing material 3/4 material. It feel apart I had to totally take it apart and rebuild it. I used 1 1/2 framing material and what a difference that made. Built a pullout draw under loveseat because of having to lift up seat to access it. Tore out half closet by front door and built a closet all the way to the ceiling. Now I had a place to hang coats and store my broom and vacumm cleaner. No other long storage closets in unit. Closet in master bedroom is a joke. It is too short for shirts or dresses. tore the bottom of the closet out and gained another 4 to 6 inches. Slider door for the bedroom does not stay closed when moving. Poor strap system. The wood finish was terrible. When I sat down at the table and started looking up I could see all the holes they tried to fill with filler. Very very poor job. I thought I was buying a quality product for $30000. You really need to look very carefully at what you are buying. This trailer was made in the Dallas Oregon plant. I told my brother of the poor quality. His comment to me was, (he lives near the plant) you should see the quality of people that they hire there. I have now worked out most of the bugs and the dealer was very good about fixing most of the smaller fixes. Did not take the trailer back for the table, top or closests I did that myself. The outside of the trailer has a nice finish to it and I do like how it pulls. If I bought another travel trailer I would look at something else. I had a Nash once and I really was impressed with the quality. Keystone also makes a good product.Rating breakdown
