2010 Seneca 36 MS
By Bill and Carol Moudy (I am an Owner) on Oct 20, 2012Unlike the previous review, we absolutely love our Seneca RV. We purchased it new in June of 2010. We do not have any problems with canvas over the slides. We have never had any noise issues with the wind and have camped at campgrounds with lots of wind. As for his issue with the pantry cabinet ... coming open when traveling. . . we did have this very minor issue but was taken care of at the dealer by adding two more catches. Since then it has never come back open when traveling. The workmanship in the Seneca is A-1!! For all the women out there. . . . this is a great unit to drive and set up. It is as easy to drive as a pick-up and much easier to back in and set up than a towable trailer. My friends all love when I come and set up before my husband even gets there. My husband and I have often said that someone who knows what a RV needs must haved designed the Seneca. Everything is designed very well. My husband says the only thing he would love to add is Air Ride for traveling.Rating breakdown

Bad design
By Norm Rourke (I am an Owner) on Feb 03, 2011We bought a 2010 Jayco Seneca HD 36MS last summeer. For the most part, the coach is good. But as usual, overpaid designers and engineers who most likely have never used an RV came up with things that make no sense. This particular coach has a monster slide (the MS) that runs from behind the driver's ... seat to the back bath (this model has a bath and a half). Over this slide is an equally long canvas cover like many RV manufactures have over slides (none of which make sense). (There is a small canvas cover over the small bedroom slide on the passenger side.) In a moderate wind, this cover flaps and shudders so violently that its movement and noise is telegraphed throughout the entire coach! There is a bar under the cover that's supposed to prevent the canvas from flapping. But all it really does is create a wind tunnel through which even a brisk breeze blows and balloons the canvas. In addition to being irritating, this thing is a wreck waiting to happen. Eventually it will be damaged, torn or perhaps even ripped off (which might not be a bad idea). In addition, if you're caught in a bit stronger wind, the balloon effect will rock the coach. Solution: Bring in the slide! But why have the canvas cover on anyhow? It, as well as the one over the bedroom slide is worthless. Another great "design" are the drawers in the cupboard beside the frige. When making a normal turn, the drawers slam against the cupboard door crashing it open and the contents spill out. Makes a lot of sense, huh? Solution: We installed barrel locks used when traveling to prevent drawers from flying out. Jayco, like many RV manufacturers, cheaped out the windows on this RV. Instead of decent thermal type windows that would keep out cold and heat and prevent transfer of same through the glass, they use the usual single pane glass that does little to prevent the loss of heat or cool air or keep out either. As for my particular coach, there were a few stupid quality glitches that Jayco should have caught: The black & gray tank valve pulls on the back bath were mislabeled...The check valve in the back bathroom was installed improperly stripping the threads and cracking the top part of this piece. Thanks to this poor installation and sloppy work, we flooded the bathroom the first time we used the rinse feature on the black tank! Suggestion to Jayco and others: As part of your employement benefit package, require your people--especially designers and engineers--to take the RV on vacation and find out what doesn't work. When you pay the price(s) that RVers pay for these things, you expect a little better quality. Pass this review on to Jayco if you like. Maybe they'll listen to you.Rating breakdown
