Great Family RV
By JD (I am an Owner) on Jun 26, 2021Was looking for a long term review on these, but didn't see any reviews at all. Decided to write a review for others from an owner of approximately one year. So far this has been a great travel trailer for our family. There have been some issue that any travel trailer will experience. The layout ... is what sold us on this one. We were looking at 2020 model travel trailers with bunkhouses for the kids. The quality of the other units was so poor that we started looking at used travel trailers of a higher quality. The Keystone Outback Super Lite 324CG toy hauler was one we viewed. The price was less than the lower quality new travel trailers and the build quality was much better. The arch top, aluminum construction, and two air conditioners were selling points. We didn't really need a toy hauler because we don't typically carry those with us. This toy hauler isn't beg enough for most toys anyways. if you have a motorcycle or maybe two dirt bikes it is perfect. If you have a side by side or golf cart they probably won't fit. However, this garage is easy for loading everything in and out of the camper and is perfect for storing all of the camp gear that you want to keep locked up and out of the weather during transport such as the generator, grill, chairs, tables, solar panels, storage totes, dog crate, etc. The garage area is air conditioned with one vent...not enough on a hot Southern day, but no heat ducts. For storage this is not a problem, but we have bunk beds and kids that sleep in there so heat and air is necessary. We just leave the bedroom door open and it is usually fine. The dinette and couch had been removed from our camper and a custom 4 person theater seating type sectional installed with drink holders and storage between each seat. At first I didn't think this would work. After getting a set of dinner tray tables we found this to be better than the booth from the factory. Everyone has their own very comfortable recliner and during meal times no one is cramped. Put a tray table in front of each of the four seats and everyone has the best seat in the house to eat, talk, watch tv, see outside. It works great. There is even room to walk around or for the cook to serve from the stove and fridge. If you have more than 4 people you will need to add camp chairs inside. We never eat inside with that many people unless the weather is bad outside. If they had a sectional design from the factory with the fold out table built into each seat and room for 6 people dinettes would be a thing of the past. The storage in this camper is great. Plentiful in every room. We could live in this thing long term if necessary. Bathroom is spacious for a camper. Shower is almost as good as a compact home shower. The shower floor gives some and needs to be reinforced. This is typical with campers though. We had a leak in the kitchen behind the oven. After winterizing and on the first camping trip of the Spring we had a leak when we hooked up to the water at the camp site. Luckily Lowe's was a short 45 min drive and I replaced the cheap plumbing connections with quality brass connections. Hopefully that will never be an issue again. I know camper manufacturers are saving money and weight with these lightweight...cheap materials, but some things consumers don't want you to cheap out on and plumbing, electric, and HVAC are the kind of things we consumers don't want to have to work on often when we use our campers. Our camper came with a Progressive Industries whole camper surge protector. This is a great addition, but ours occasionally will start to make an alarm type tone. I thought this was due to low voltage or inconsistent power. Seems that the brain box just needs to be replaced on the Progressive Industries unit because it is not supposed to make that noise. The stabilizers aren't all going completely up and down as they should. I have to manually adjust two of them often to get them all the way down or all the way up. Got to carry in to get serviced. We pull this camper with a half ton Chevrolet truck that was special ordered with a tow package, transmission cooler, 3.73 gears, trailer breaking rated for 10,500 lbs. We are close to the max weight with the weight distributing hitch. On flat ground in Texas I would say that you could get away with this setup. If you are in Tennessee wit hills or mountains get a 3/4 ton diesel. Overall we are very pleased with our camper. It is better constructed than many on the market. Used it was a great value. Seems like it will hold up to our family's needs well. Hopefully this review from an owner will help you with your decision if you are considering this model.Rating breakdown
