It's OK, but we probably won't buy another one
By K.P. (I am an Owner) on Apr 12, 2015We've had our Open Range with a loft for 3 years exactly. It's a decent, higher end 5th wheel with a lot of space. However, there are things I don't like about it. As soon as we used it the 1st time, every fitting for the water leaked. And I mean under every sink, bathtub, toilet, water pump etc... ... The store we bought it from had it hooked to water and flushed water through it for over an hour. Maybe we had more h2o pressure? IDK, but every fitting was able to be tightened at least a full turn! We did that ourselves. As with many rv's, the wood isn't the best. A few pieces of trim have fallen off. In the bunk-loft area, there are gaps in the corners where the corner trim just wasn't quite wide enough to cover the gap between walls. We took it in and they put different trim up, but I think their work was more shotty than the manufacturer! The microwave went out. They replaced it with no fuss. At the same time, they re-calibrated the auto level. We have also had an issue with the thermostat, that they did not fix when we brought it in. I will have the a/c set on 71 but it'll really be 65 in here! This is the first RV we've ever owned that the a/c actually does what it's supposed to do! Perhaps a bit too well! LOL After a few days of heavy rain, the back end of the loft started to leak.it soaked the mattress we had up there. A repairman took care of that. We didn't bother with the warranty. At the top of the stairs, there is a soft spot. We realized the floor wasn't supported in the hallway. So my husband braced it as well as he could. It's just inside the driverside underbelly compartment, so it wasn't hard to get to. The washer/dryer is in the bedroom slide out. HORRIBLE DESIGN! We had to take it back in because the slide had actually rotted out! They replaced it, but it took them almost 2 months. During that same warranty visit, we had them look at the lights that were dry rotted and some whose wires had scorched and stopped working. They didn't change them, I guess 2 months wasn't long enough to get it done...LOL However, Open Range sent us all new lights, so we could change them ourselves. During the first warranty visit, we told them that the main slide room wouldn't slide in without my husband pushing it from outside. They blamed it on us, saying we had too much weight in it. Blah blah blah... We only had a mattress topper and 2 empty suitcases under the couch! So, needless to say, it still has to be pushed in order to get it started sliding in. The bathroom in the bunk is unusable. It isn't vented properly, so if/when it is used, it stinks up the whole house! This RV has had an odd smell since we bought it. I've tried cleaning the walls and I've even mopped the ceiling! Nothing will make it go away! It's almost like a soured wood smell. This company claims not to use formaldehyde, so I'm stumped as to what the smell really is! We've had to replace every mattress (really they were more like thick pads...) with actual mattresses. Do you know how hard it is to find a 30" wide mattress?! Now with a normal thickness mattress, the top bunk is no longer usable. So we put the mattress in the loft and whoever sleeps up there has minimal room to turn over. It's ok for kids, but not if you're bigger than about 5'2 and 130 lbs. The metal rack broke off the back while we were pulling it. No damage was done, just cheap thin metal! Pro's: A ton of storage! This kitchen has a lot of cabinets. There's plenty of room above the sink, for our dishes and cups. Above the stove is where my pots and pans go, and I have a lot! Below the stove, I keep my sheet pans and extra stuff I don't use much. In the movable island is where I keep our canned goods and snacks. Below the radio, I have a cabinet for cereals and another for baking goods. The cabinets above the couch have little in them. There are huge drawers under our u-shaped couch and they hold a lot of junk. The bath tub is big and there's plenty of room to move around in the bathroom. I like the size of the closet and at first I wished it had a normal closet rod, but our clothes don't fall when we pull it, so now we're big fans of the little hanger holes. I love how sturdy this trailer is. Obviously, you can feel movement in every camper. But this one, by far is the most sturdy one we've ever had! And we've had 5! A Dutchmen, Avion, Travel Supreme, a Legends, and this Open Range. All were 5th wheels.Rating breakdown

One Big Rolling Lemon
By j (I am an Owner) on Jun 23, 2014We have had many problems with the RV. We have also had some trouble with decent service to fix those problems and some lack of cooperation with the company itself to honor warranty items.Rating breakdown
