2009 Trail Cruiser
By dave f (I am an Owner) on Feb 18, 2010All in all a nice lightweight trailer. Don't believe the weight ratings in the brochure, mine said 3700lbs and it weighed in at 5000+lbs with gear. There's no way we carry 1300lbs of stuff! There are many standard features which should be considered in the weight rating but are considered optional. ... Remove the black plastic cover under the trailer and you will find some very poor craftsmanship. Poor fresh water tank drain hose (20ft long and does not drain unless you lower the front of trailer to the ground! Terrible engineering! The tank is in the back, put the drain back there! Also fresh water pickup hose has no rigid elbow and kinks off, Therefore no water goes to pump, again terrible! Brake wiring and tank wiring not supported. Fresh water tank not supported in the center and sags away from main supports! (c'mon guys!) They claim to have a heated underbelly but is open to elements and rodents where the dump valves are, seal up the whole thing or your wasting our time. The grey and black tanks are labelled wrong! The tank level guages are also labeled wrong! The black is grey and vice versa. A lot of wasted storage inside some cabinets. Workers should clean up their wiring and plumbing installs and remove the divider boards from inside the floor cabinets to free up some storage space. Most of the wires/plumbing just have to be secured to the back walls remove the fake partition and voila, a whole free cupboard. Another crazy thing, no easy access to the rear slide motor. Heaven help you if you should have a dead battery or bad motor and you have to bring the slide in or out! Why not put a small access door on the back of the trailer beside the motor so you can manually crank it, like the competitors do! Dinette seating is very flimsy and has to be reinforced with L brackets in the corners. Dinette seating should have drawer storage, come on lets get with the times guys! Storage cabinet needed in the bedroom slide also. VERY NICE cushions and bed foams, the best I've seen in the industry! Of all the things this is the best feature. Nice aerodynamic front propane cover is also a nice feature that sets this trailer apart from others. Although I see that 2010 models have changed--back to the traditional white tank covers--that's too bad. Needs more convenience lighting. It would be nice to have a light at the front for hooking up hitch and also in the storage bays. Front storage bay needs a door on the other side?? Whoever heard of a pass through storage bay with one door!!! This is crazy! Also the flip up lower bunk is difficult to flip up and it has no holding mechanism to keep it up -- this makes the pack and play feature useless! What about a gas strut shock to help it up and a latch. If you are handy at carpentry and plumbing you can fix all these issues like I have, but after paying so much money for this unit why should you have to. I have fixed all these anoyances and We have camped in it about 8 trips and so far no structural issues and it pulls fairly straight. For now I am happy with it, but will consider a different manufacturer for our next upgrade. This company should be careful because everyone is coming out with rear slide trailers and quality is definitely going to come into play here. Good luck with your purchase and I hope if you are considering buying one of these you check into all these issues carefully.Rating breakdown
