Starcraft 11RT Australia
By Karridale Bushman (I am an Owner) on Mar 02, 2013We picked up a 2008 11RT two years ago .The 11.5 RT was imported to OZ via Brisbane and was then used to go around Australia by a family in Bunbury Western Australia. They travelled the infamous Gibb River Road , a tyre shredding , trailer shattering gravel and rock road from Kununurra to Broome towing ... the RT. Didnt miss a beat.it did have a suspension upgrade before leaving Brisbane for the harsh conditions . We picked it up in 2011 and have been just as adventurous . The trailer is towed by a Toyota BJ 73 1990 , fitted with a Chevy 6.5 L V8. We have done Karijini National Park , Coral Bay , Worrwa Station ,Maidment Pass on the Warren River and the Holland Track so far. The trailer is in very good condition and has never had an issue. We do spend a lot of time on maintenance on it, but when you take it through the harsh Australian outback you want to for peace of mind. The trailer has roof racks fitted and we have a Finn 3 m plastic dingy on top, which weighs 55 kg. we have had a custom aluminum gear box put on the front toy deck with suicide doors and flush heavy duty handles. This trailer is tuff . The canvas is still like new as is the trailer inside. Having the toilet and shower with two small kids is great. Nothing like a hot shower after a day walking or fishing in the middle of no where. The Holland track was an eye opener, day 1 we drove for 9 hours to cover 49 kms, hard slow grind. Washouts , mud holes , tight winding tracks with heavy bush either side. The Treg Hitch system let us deal with the testing and tight conditions with ease. The trailers height and good entry and exit angles enabled a slow steady speed without scrapping or banging . We passed several other people during the 4 days on the Holland Track and studied their trailers . All steel box trailers with canvas and without amenity . The RT was watched by all and we were the envy of all. Could have made a good profit selling showers and toilet use. The equivalent Jakco trailer in OZ costs $50,000 and is not as tuff. The only change I would suggest is particle board floor. It looks soft . I have painted with a heavy duty two part high impact paint to seal it well and strengthen it up.Rating breakdown
