Great coach design but poor quality control
By Rachel Cole (I am an Owner) on Dec 09, 2017We bought a 2016 Thor Vegas Motorcoach. I will say I absolutely fell I. Love with the look and interior layout of the Vegas. I wanted a small coach roomy enough for 5 but small enough to drive most anywhere. We took the Vegas on a trip to Arizona and discovered that in low wind situations with not ... a lot of trucks around you it is a great coach, but add higher winds and driving by semi trucks and you are holding on tight to stay in your lane. To solve this we added a stabilizer bar in the front, a traction bar in the rear and Replaced the shocks with Koni shocks. This dramatically improved the ride. The cost to do this was about $3000. Another issue was heat, the massive front windshield and lack of insulation in the engine compartment makes for a very hot ride in the summer. Even with the a/c on your feet feel like they are frying next to the engine. To combat the heat we had the engine compartment insulated and small fans hardwired in and mounted to the dash on the drivers and passenger side, this helped with the heat issue at a cost of $800. We also replaced the drivers seat pedestal with one 3-4†shorter as the existing one was more for a six foot man than a 5’-6†woman. Also the seat wouldn’t turn to the rear because it would hit the steering wheel, now it turns all the way back and you can use the small table between the front seats. There were list of defects that had to be fixed under warranty. It took us about a year to get the coaches problems worked out. It seemed like the dealer had our coach more that first year than we did. One thing we added that I would highly recommend is adding solar panels. This is not only great for dry camping but also allows you to let the kids watch movies while you are driving without having to turn on the generator. In total we spend about $10,000 in upgrades to our Vegas. If you are willing to put in extra cash I do recommend the Vegas. Now that we’ve made the upgrades and had the defects fixed it is a comfortable coach that is fun to drive. I love the size, it goes almost anywhere.Rating breakdown
