If the latest numbers released by the RVIA are any indication, the RV industry is as strong as it has ever been. March 2017 had the most RV shipments of any month on record.

A total of 47,579 units were shipped to dealers in March 2017, up 16.8% compared to March 2016. The RVIA gets this data from a monthly survey of manufacturers.

Travel trailers remain far and away the largest segment of the industry. A total of 31,422 travel trailers were shipped to dealers in March 2017, a 17% increase over March 2016. fifth wheels (+15.8%), folding camping trailers (+34.1%), Class B motorhomes (+30.2%) and Class C motorhomes (+28.8%) all saw improvements compared to March 2016. Truck campers (-31.3%) and Class A motorhomes (-0.6%) were the only segments showing a comparable loss.

Year-on-year, 2017 is looking very strong. Total RV shipments for the first three months of 2017 are up 11.7% compared to the same period in 2016.
