The 2013 Coachmen Chaparral Signature Fifth Wheel gives you more for less. This affordable fifth wheel is a cottage home on wheels, designed for camping enthusiasts.

Available in three floorplans, we’re taking a look at the 327RLKS. It has a hitch weight of 1,980 lbs and a base weight of 10,470 lbs. The gross vehicle weight rating is 11,900 lbs and the cargo carrying capacity is 1,430 lbs. The Chaparral Signature has an exterior length of 37’8”, exterior height of 12’6” and exterior width of 96”. It has a fresh water capacity of 60 gallons, gray water capacity of 90 gallons and black water capacity of 45 gallons. The awning size is at 20 ft.

The Chaparral Signature is made with Turntec engineering, which uses a frame that utilizes 45-degree corners with an aerodynamic front cap. This creates a fifth wheel that is easier to maneuver than most. The sidewalls and floors of the 327RLKS are aluminum framed and laminated. The 3/8” walkable roof is rubber and consists of 5” roof trusses. The Chaparral Signature also comes with heavy-duty 5,200-pound easy-lube axles for off-road adventures, radial tires and silver rally wheels. Dark tint safety glass windows give riders and dwellers privacy, while providing beautiful views of the outside world. You can upgrade your windows to Thermopane.

Those who camp in the winter will be happy with the mandatory Polar Package, manufactured for below freezing weather. Keeping the cold weather out is R-13 roof insulation, R-11 wall insulation and R-14 floor insulation. The underbelly is fully enclosed with heated and enclosed dump valves. It also has Thermal Insulation in the slide floors, bed and bath deck.

Upon walking into the Signature you are immediately drawn to the maple cabinetry throughout the home. The cabinet doors in the living room feature beautiful smoked glass windows that give the space a modern look. Residential carpet has been installed in the living room and bedroom, while the rest of the floors are covered in Congoleum Designer sheet flooring. Pleated night window shades block light from the massive windows. Furniture is equipped with brush nickel hardware and the hardwood valances come with lambrequin legs. A comfy jackknife sofa sits in the living room along with two swivel rockers. For an extra price, you can replace the rockers with two La-Z-Boys. If your family plans on spending cold evenings inside, an electric fireplace is recommended.

Luxurious homes always come with top-notch entertainment centers and the Signature is no exception. Camping in the wild outdoors doesn’t mean you have to succumb to seclusion from the world of electronics – an AM/FM/CD/DVD Player with MP3 hook-up comes standard. You also get a digital TV antenna, cable TV hook-up and a satellite hookup. Take a break from nature and watch your favorite movies on a 40” LCD HD television.

Your family’s cook will be grateful for the spacious kitchen. The stainless steel double bowl sink comes with two sink covers, making the space look tidy. The faucet is high-rise and features a pullout sprayer. You can store cutlery and plates in the large drawers with steel ball bearing guides. The extra large 8-cubic-foot double door refrigerator is a beautiful addition to the luxurious kitchen and gives you plenty of room to store your food. Other features include a knife block behind the stovetop and a trashcan storage area. Prepare dinner on the Corian countertop and cook it on the stove. For quick reheating, use the turn-style microwave oven. The whole family can sit down for dinner at the jumbo booth dinette; however, you can upgrade your dinette to a freestanding one with four chairs.

In the bathroom, the porcelain toilet has a foot pedal flush and sits beside a toilet paper holder. The decorative glass shower door opens up to a spacious shower tub with a powered bath vent. As well, a skylight lets in the sunshine. The hardwood medicine cabinet provides storage for toiletries and comes with a medium-sized mirror. Finally, the bathroom is equipped with a 10-gallon gas/electric hot water heater with DSI, a water heater bypass valve and a black tank flush.

At the end of the day, escape to the bedroom. Compared to other Fifth Wheel bedrooms, it’s fairly spacious. The residential Serta Queen bed is 60” by 80”. A large storage area is located underneath the bed, allowing you to hide larger objects without taking up any space. If you love falling asleep to the murmurs of your television, the room is Cable and HD ready.
