The 2018 Dutchmen Coleman Lantern travel trailers are designed with the same motivation as the rest of the Coleman brand: to make outdoor living more convenient and enjoyable. The Lantern line has an incredible 17 floorplans to accommodate all sizes of groups and needs. We’re taking a closer look at the Coleman Lantern 314BH. It has shipping weight of 7400 lbs, dry hitch weight of 773 lbs, and cargo capacity of 2280 lbs. It measures 34’ 9” long, 96” wide, and 11’6” high. It has a fresh water tank capacity of 60 gallons, and gray water tank and black water tank capacities of 42 gallons each. There is a 6-gallon water heater, and two 20-pound propane tanks.

Some of the exterior features include the rockguard plate up front, tinted safety windows, and outdoor shower, power awning with LED light strip that runs nearly the entire length of the trailer and exterior speakers. There’s also roomy pass-through storage for all of your larger camping items.

Inside, the kitchen area is immediately on your left as you enter. It has an angled double bowl sink and high rise residential faucet to make stacking up and washing a meal’s worth of dishes a little easier. There’s a bit of counter space on each side of the sink and behind it. To the right, there’s a three-burner cooktop with vent hood with fan and light, as well as an oven for baking. Up top, there’s a residential microwave. The freezer/refrigerator runs off both propane and electric, with automatic switchover, so you can use land power and save on costs. Storage wise, there’s ample space under and above the sink, as well as a good-size pantry with built-in shelves and several drawers.

Across from the kitchen prep space, the super slide houses the dining and lounging area. The U-shaped dinette provides lots of space for family dinners and game nights. There is plenty of storage space underneath the benches to stash some of those games or whatever else you like. When it’s time to turn in, it converts into a sleeping space for two adults.

Beside the dinette, a jackknife sofa also converts into another sleeping area, and has storage space underneath for bedding. The entertainment center has space for a television, several open shelves, and comes with a DVD player built into the Bluetooth capable AM/FM radio.

The main bedroom is on the other side of the entertainment unit. There is a nightstand with a drawer on each side of the queen bed, as well as a mirrored wardrobe. A shelf above the bed has LED reading light underneath.

Heading back through the main living space and towards the back of the trailer, the bathroom is on the left past the kitchen. A nice feature in here is the extra door. It just makes it so much easier for kids – and everyone – to pop in without having to trek through the main kitchen and living area with muddy shoes. Another plus is the tub, which is so much more convenient for families with small children than a stand-up shower. There is a hand shower wand as well. A sink with storage underneath and a mirrored medicine cabinet round out this room.

Directly across from the bathroom, there’s a good-size wardrobe with hanging bar, a cubby, and two drawers below so there’s plenty of space for the kids’ clothes or linens.

Just past the bathroom and wardrobe, the bunk room is at the very back of the trailer. The slide back here gives the bunk room a nice spacious feel. On the right, there are standard single bunks. The top bunk flips up and locks in place, opening up the bottom bunk to be used as a sofa. There is also storage underneath the bottom bunk and – a nice touch – you get a bonus mattress that slides out so that a sleepover friend can camp out on the floor.

Facing the double bunk, on the other side of the room, there’s a raised bunk (300-pound capacity) with a built-in ladder for safe and easy access. There’s also open storage shelves behind the ladder. Under the bunk, there’s an open area to put a television, three drawers underneath, as well as another generously sized wardrobe with a hanging bar. There is a ceiling vent in the bunk room and it is also pre-wired for a second air conditioning unit.

The 2018 Dutchmen Coleman Lantern 314BH starts at about $21,000. For more information, visit www.dutchmen.com/coleman/.
