2016 Jayco Alante Class A 31L Review

The Jayco Alante puts an affordable price tag on luxury. As Jayco’s newest addition, the Alante is an interesting combination of Class A comfort at Class B price.


With four floorplans to choose from, we decided to explore the 31L. This floorplan’s design caters to those looking for both comfortable travel and comfortable full-time occupancy. It has a gross vehicle weight rating of 18,000 lbs and gross combined weight rating of 23,000 lbs. For measurements, its exterior length is 32’2”, exterior width is 101”, exterior height with A/C is 149”, and interior height in the living area is 84”. For liquids, the Alante 31L has a fresh water capacity of 71.5 gallons, gray waste water capacity of 41 gallons, black waste water capacity of 51.5 gallons, and fuel tank capacity of 80 gallons.

As the Jayco website proclaims, the Alante Class A’s construction puts ‘a modern spin on old-world craftsmanship.’ Built with a strong foundation, all Jayco RVs have custom-frames designed for each unique floorplan. The Ride and Handling Package comes with Hellwig helper springs, which work with the chassis’ existing springs to provide ultimate support for the RV, thus improving its sway control. The package also comes with 16 rubber isolation pucks, designed to absorb shock. They dampen noise and minimize vibrations. Also, the package ensures that Jayco RVs have a balanced driveshaft, which means shudder and vibrations are reduced, while power is efficiently transmitted to the wheels. Jayco’s industry-leading two-year warranty is proof that Jayco values high-quality construction and customer service.

The Jayco Alante will get you a lot of attention, whether you’re parked at an RV camp or cruising down the highway. You can choose an exterior that is painted with Standard Blue Ribbon graphics or Sensational Red graphics. If you want further set yourself apart, consider one of the optional paint options: Canyon Sunset, Midnight Mystery or Topaz. The exterior not only turn heads, but it also impresses RV gurus with the quality of its construction. The seamless, one-piece front cap is equipped with LED lighting accents. The entrance door comes with a large travel-view window. The lockable pass-through storage compartments have slam-latch doors. The 4-inch tube bumper comes with sewer hose storage. Jayco goes the extra mile to make sure that the features are the most innovative in the industry.


Located on the dash in the cockpit is a touch-screen, SiriusXM-ready dash radio. It is equipped with an AM/FM/CD/DVD/MP3 input jack. For your safety, there is a backup and side-view camera installed, along with a monitor. Powered by a 6.8L Triton V-10 362 HP gas engine, the Jayco Alante has five-speed automatic TorqShift transmission with overdrive and low-haul mode. The Alante has a 130-amp alternator, 12V chassis battery and a third brake light. For both the driver and passenger’s comfort, the seats can turn 360 degrees.


After a long drive, you’ll be glad that you have a home-away-from-home to escape to. Conveniently, the living room is located directly behind the cockpit. It features a sofa, dinette and the option of a drop-down bunk. The entire space is lit with high-intensity LED ceiling lights and large windows. Hardwood cabinetry throughout the space creates warmth that can only be replicated at a cottage by the lake. The drawers have ball bearing drawer guides, and the handles and hinges come in oil-rubbed bronze, adding elegance to your home. If you need a break from nature, relax on the couch, turn on the TV switch and wait for an LED TV to appear before your eyes. The space is equipped with a digital antenna and signal booster, along with a Cable TV hook-up with RG6 coax.

With the Jayco Alante, you won’t be able to excuse yourself from cooking. The kitchen provides you with everything you need to whip up meals. It is equipped with a three-burner range that comes with an oven. It also comes with a 9,000-BTU SuperBurner and piezo ignitor. You can store veggies in the 8 cu. ft. refrigerator and reheat leftovers in the microwave. With overhead compartments and a pantry, the Alante 31L provides you with enough storage space for all your condiments, perishable goods and knick-knacks. When dinner’s ready, serve it at the large dinette and pat yourself on the back for a job well done and money well saved.


Next, let’s take a walk to the bathroom. Unlike most RV bathrooms, you won’t mind spending time in the Alante’s. It is equipped with a one-piece shower that has a glass door and skylight. The Marine toilet comes with foot flush and a wall switch can control the powered roof vent. Of course, there’s a sink with a medicine cabinet above, which means you won’t run out of places to store your toiletries.

When you’re ready to call it a day, turn off the lights and retreat to your bedroom. Fit for royalty, the Alante bedroom has a Queen-sized bed with a nightstand at each side. The overhead compartment is perfect for storing books and electronics. You’ll also find storage space in the wardrobe, which is perfect for keeping your clothes wrinkle-free. For an extra price, you can request a TV in the bedroom.
