Poor Craftmanship
By Darryl Wilson (I am an Owner) on Aug 31, 2015We purchased our 2011 Mac 228 d brand new in 2010, nothing but a headache from day one. The unit was set up at the local RV show, the dealer had removed 2 of the side panels for display purposes (they said). When we got it home we reviewed the set up procedure, to discover that when we set it up the ... lexan windows were torn (conveniently the same panels they had removed). My wife and I decided to go over the unit closely. Finding several issues that required attention. Fit n finish issues, corrosion,we decided to check all appliances, I light 2 of the stove burners, but the other would not light. I had just stood fully up when the flame from the lit burner caused an accumulation of propane to exploded and tore the screws that held stove top to counter. I hooked the piece of crap to my truck and took it straight back to the dealer, who hummed n hoed, then proceeded to blame us for the tears( are you kidding me! ) It's had electrical issues from day one. Forest rivers head office would not help, denying warranty as dealers responsibility. Now that warranty is over I am fixing and modding the unit into what forest river should have done in the first place. I cannot believe the poor craftsmanship as I fix things, wiring strapped to propane lines, places where screws have missed the frame work, I have and will continue to sway people away from forest river products...Rating breakdown

Best Unit You Can Buy for the Money
By Flagstaff 228D Owner (I am an Owner) on Dec 20, 2011I bought this unit 2 years ago after looking at every line of pop up trailers on the market. All I can say is for the money you pay, the 228D Flagstaff has everything we wanted and more. The beds are massive. The slide out dinette allows for real world living conditions opening up the floor space so ... you are never feeling cramped. The quality of the cabinetry and finishing was by far superior to any other make at the time and upholstery and foam used in seating areas is designed to be actually used and hold up. Storage space in these types of trailers is tough but the 228D is loaded with storage and easy to get at. Its a big unit. Tongue weight is heavy. It does not sway and on the road it is solid. Worth every penny. I know why you rarely find these used on the market-their owners keep them. Highly recommend.Rating breakdown
