Buyer beware.
By J. Stephenson (I am an Owner) on Mar 14, 2017We purchased a new 2016 HR Navigator XE 36K from General RV in Birch Run, MI. It is beautiful and a step up from our Fleetwood Storm. However, several things were wrong from the start and required extensive bullying from me to get them fixed. The Whirlpool Refrigerator quit on our 2nd day out on ... a 3 week vacation. You think....ah, warranty work....NOT,,,Whirlpool refused to come out to fix it even with a 5 day layover in SD. Ended up buying a Yeti cooler for remainder of vacation....5 people....UGH!!!! Next, the king size bed on platform.....it requires a motor and crank system to raise and lower it....it worked for 3 days before clunking and grinding.....it was replaced before our trip. Oh wait, it quit again with same problem.....hmm....bent frame and misaligned motor.....replaced AGAIN......it then quit on our trip out west....but this time complete and total failure....couldn't raise or lower....hmm....wonder how they expect you to sleep on it? And by the way.....if bed doesn't raise, slide won't come in.....NOW THAT IS A PROBLEM. Finally, after several calls to Customer Service VP at REV group I took it to Wixom RV where they had to completely disassemble bed, finding metal shavings, bent frame, etc...and completely rebuilding it from platform up. It took 6 hours but it works now. The plumbing.....we have been traveling for a year now and plumbing problems are as follows: 1. First trip, first showers resulted in a river running through it.....no joke....water pouring from rear bath to front of RV. Problem? a couple.....first, the shower door was installed backasswards...meaning the bottom frame that prevents water from leaking out of shower was actually a funnel for the water.....but that wasn't the main problem.....took off access panel to find the plumbing fittings not even finger tight.....water was spraying all over the place.....same for the washer......FINGER TIGHT!!!!!! I fixed the fittings but warranty work fixed the door......hmm, i guess the line monkey needs a little more training on installation of shower door, and physics of water flow. The toilet system is a vacuum flush and macerator system. It worked for the first 4 days then quit working.....i checked the underneath connections and found a vacuum leak....get this.....dealer says it was our fault because we used it when green light wasn't lit.....hmm.....i guess i should have had the grandkids just piss out the window. They charged us $170 to clean out the piping full of crap....LOL that was worth it.....well come to find out the valve membrane was torn....hmm....guess it wasn't my fault afterall. It has worked since. 2. This year.....had more water while traveling from MI to FL....water in main living area and not coming from outside.....after investigation found that the faucet lines were....you guessed it.....finger tight......water flowing all over the place. 3. Sound bar quit working and when I called to trace the wiring where it is plugged in i was told: "it is right behind the TV"....WRONG....the power cord goes down the column by the fireplace.....NO ACCESS......at least I received the wiring diagram out of the deal....not that it will help as this was wrong. 4. Outside storage door will NOT lock all the time.....was coming through Altlanta in heavy traffic and my storage door flew open.....not sure what to do since there was no stopping.....it was supposedly fixed by dealer after a previous occurrence...... 5. Screen door latch....made of plastic and just broke my 2nd one. It just doesn't hold. Too much stress on that little plastic piece. Rubber band works well.... 6. Whirlpool washer NEVER completes a wash cycle without an error code of no water flow. Been "fixed" twice but still doesn't work....whirlpool appliances are C. R. A. P. So in a year this coach has been in the shop almost 3 months while General RV moves it in and out for each little problem instead of just getting all the necessary parts and fixing everything at once..... My advice....if you are buying a new HR coach....have the dealer go through and check every plumbing fitting, work the mechanical bed multiple times, and buy a Yeti.... I had the VP of REV group on speed dial and talked almost daily with him....Larry listened and tried to help....SIGH.....Rating breakdown
