RV Art: Camper Kart and Camper Bike

Artist Kevin Cyr has created a pair of unique pieces of RV-inspired designs that can be moved from place to place by a single person.

According to Cyr’s website, the Camper project investigates habitats and housing; recycling and ecology; exploration and mobility.

The Camper Kart is a pop-up trailer housed in a grocery kart, while the Camper Bike is a small trailer affixed to a modified bicycle. Clearly both pieces are more art than functional trailers, but it’s interesting to see what Cyr does with the medium.

Could an ultra-light trailer be developed that could be towed by a bicycle? What about a bicycle equipped with an electric motor to help pull the load? Wouldn’t that be a fun way to explore a national park for a few days? You could camp out where traditional RVs are not allowed to tread and sleep in more comfort than a tent provides.
