Winnebago will help host Operation LZ, a welcome home event for Vietnam veterans in Forest City, Iowa.

The Winnebago Rally Grounds will serve as the host location for a traveling Vietnam Wall War Memorial display and other key activities associated with Operation LZ as well as onsite camping accommodations.

“As a Vietnam veteran, I am proud the company I work for is supporting this Welcome Home event,” says Winnebago’s longest tenured employee, Larry Kearney. “I am happy this is going on and am glad the organizers are acknowledging Vietnam-era veterans.”

Kearney has worked at Winnebago Industries for 46 years. During his time in the Army he served in Vietnam, was awarded the Bronze Star and was a Purple Heart recipient.

Operation LZ is scheduled to take place Aug. 26-30 at the Winnebago Rally Grounds, Forest City airport and Heritage Park of North Iowa. The event coincides with the 40-year anniversary of the end of the war and will feature a traveling display of the Vietnam War Memorial, key note speakers including Iowa Governor Terry Branstad, numerous military related air and ground displays and activities and a veteran appreciation concert.

Organizers expect up to 20,000 people may attend the event. More information about Operation LZ can be found at operationlz.com.
