The 2019 Airstream Nest combines a retro vibe with clean, modern design and amenities, adding up to a sweet little weekend home for couples with a spontaneous weekend warrior streak.

There are two Airstream Nest floorplans available, the difference being that Nest 16U has a U-shaped dinette that converts into a bed and a bit more counter space, while the Nest 16FB has a permanent Queen bed and, in place of the counter, a dinette bench with a stowable table top. Otherwise, the two are the same.

The Nest measures in at a compact 16’ 7” long, just over 7’ wide, and 9’6” high. It has a gross vehicle weight rating of 4000 lbs, a net carrying capacity of 600 lbs, and a hitch weight (with propane and batteries) of 375 lbs. The fresh water tank can hold 24 gallons and the combo black/gray water tank holds 30 gallons, and there is one 20-pound propane tank.

The Airstream Nest’s sleek two-tone exterior look is courtesy of gel-coated fiberglass over a lightweight semi-monocoque aluminum superstructure. There are four manual stabilizer jacks and a manual hitch jack and two lockable exterior storage compartments. It also has tempered, tinted windows and a sliding screen door so you can let in the light but keep out the bugs. There are two deep cycle batteries with multi-stage converter, and it’s pre-wired for solar with a front-end access point (as opposed to the roof) if you want to do a battery disconnect. Take advantage of campground water with the city water and the exterior hot/cold shower for quick wash-ups.

The clean, mid-century design lines are carried throughout the travel trailer’s interior as well. Simple décor that’s light on pattern, as well as windows all around the trailer, keeps the interior feeling calm and airy. There’s also a skylight with a nightshade, and a MaxxAir vent and four-speed fan. Pick from two color palettes – one of neutral tones, and the other with a punch of teal.

Don’t be misled by the Nest’s distinct retro-cool vibe, though; this travel trailer is decidedly modern in terms of function and conveniences. Thoughtful features like Bluetooth-controlled LED lights, USB ports throughout, propane-powered continuous hot water heater, powered patio awning with LED lights, and a winterization bypass valve will make your weekend escapes and summer road trips. The 13,500 BTU air conditioner with electric heat strip will take the edge off when the weather gets too warm or cool.

You get all of the kitchen amenities you need to whip up snacks and meals: 3.2-cubic-foot two-way refrigerator (12V or electricity, no propane), microwave, two-burner cooktop with cover, and deep stainless steel sink wit cover to create more surface space. When it’s time to dig in, take a seat at either the U-shaped dinette (Nest 16U) or the dinette bench(Nest 16FB), both with a removable laminate tabletop (with pedestals).

In the wet bath, there’s a handheld showerhead, enclosed toiletry shelf, integrated soap dispensers, mirror, fan, Dometic toilet, and window with both privacy and insect screens.

Though the Airstream Nest is small, you’ll still find plenty of storage options. In addition to the two exterior storage compartments, there are overhead storage cubbies all around the interior, under the dinette bench(es) and behind the back cushions, an area under the kitchen sink and three full-extension drawers, and a roomy wardrobe with a light.

The Airstream Nest starts at $45,900. For more information, visit http://www.airstream.com/.
