Jayco’s Jay Flight boasts durable construction, giving owners the confidence to soar to whatever lies ahead.
Eleven floorplans are available to choose from; we decided to explore the 287BHSW, which can sleep 8-10 people. The trailer has an uploaded vehicle weight of 5,615 lbs, dry hitch weight of 645 lbs, gross vehicle weight rating of 7,000 lbs, and cargo carrying capacity of 1,385 lbs. For measurements, it has an exterior length of 30’2”, exterior width of 96”, exterior height with A/C of 132”, and interior height of 81”. For tank capacities, the Jay Flight has a fresh water capacity of 38 gallons, fresh water capacity of 44 gallons, gray wastewater capacity of 39 gallons, and black wastewater capacity of 39 gallons.

Amish craftsmen whose build Jayco RVs and Jayco’s two-year warranty proves its confidence in its construction techniques. Jayco says its Magnum Truss Roof System is 50% stronger than other RV roofs in the industry; it is designed to withstand 4,500 lbs. Furthermore, Jayco’s screwed construction creates a secure structure, while the oversized nail plates create a tight truss that is less likely to move than one with smaller nail plates. Jayco notes that its safe wiring reduces the risk of electrical shorts, while the 7” header beam is stronger than the industry standard. The exterior of the Jay Flight features a four-inch cambered steel box tube frame and fully integrated A-frame. Electric slideouts have an enclosed gear system and the flush-floor slideout floors have two-sided reflective foil insulation. Clamp-ridged safety glass windows come with automotive gasket seals. The Jay Flight has an aerodynamic front profile and radial tires with galvanized steel and impact-resistant wheels, which make it easy to handle when towing.
Enter the Jay Flight’s living room to unwind after a day on the trails. Jayco-made window treatments, coupled with the pleated window shades, add style to the space, while the vinyl floors are easy to keep clean. You can lie down on the sofa or get cozy at the U-shaped dinette – both face the entertainment center, which features a Premium multimedia sound system with mp3/iPod/input jacks.

Storage space is ample, so you can store all of your belongings without making the space look cluttered. Above the sofa is an overhead compartment, and beside the entertainment center is a bench storage area with another overhead compartment. Conveniently, the 287BHSW has a commanding/charging station, making it easy to keep track of your technology. To keep the space warm, there’s a high-efficiency Atwood furnace.
Cooking on the road easy, even if you’re feeding a dozen people, as the spacious kitchen is equipped with a wardrobe, pantry and overhead compartment. The Norcold fridge has temperature controls and the large, acrylic sink has a high-rise faucet. You can fry food on the three-burner range or bake it in the oven. Laminate countertops are easy to wipe and maintain, while ball-bearing drawer guides make the drawers easy to open and close. All cabinetry throughout the space is screwed and glued.

Though not exactly luxurious, the bathroom gives you the essentials. The marine toilet has hand flush, and the tub surround is equipped with a shower curtain and curved shower track. A wood-trimmed mirror above the sink adds warmth and elegance to the small space, while the skylight in the bathroom brings in natural light, so you don’t have to waste electricity if you’re showering during the day.
Adding to the sleeping capacity of the Jay Flight SLX 287BHSW is a double bunk bed beside the bathroom. A built-in ladder allows you to safely climb up and down from the top bunk. The space also has a window with privacy curtains.
More private sleeping quarters are found in the master bedroom, which is equipped with a Queen bed, two wardrobes and an overhead compartment. The bed sits on a plywood platform, and is dressed in a beautiful bedspread. To maximize space in the room, the bed is equipped with underbed storage.
