2011 EverGreen Ever-Lite 30RLS-5 Review
It feels good to go green. You can make eco-friendly choices in every aspect your life… that goes for the RV you choose, too. And EverGreen makes the choice easy with its 2011 Ever-Lite Fifth Wheel.
The first all composite, eco-friendly, lightweight fifth-wheel on the market, the Ever-Lite comes in three distinct floorplans. Let’s take a look at the 30RLS-5, the smallest model in the series. It measures in with an overall length of 30′ 11″, a height of 12′ 1″ and a width of width of 8′ 1″. The 30 RLS-5 tips the scales with a total dry weight of 7,570 lbs., a dry hitch weight of 1,350 lbs. and a cargo carrying capacity of 1,635 lbs. In the way of water, it has a fresh water capacity of 59 gallons, a gray water capacity of 58 gallons and a black water capacity of 29 gallons.
Built with all composite, wood-free outside wall construction and all sporting the design characteristics of the first eco-friendly Ever-Lite travel trailers, this new fifth wheel is designed to be carried by lighter duty trucks. Take a deep breath, because EverGreen has eliminated wood substrates and other out-dated, non-sustainable materials that virtually eradicates formaldehyde and out-gassing, making this RV healthier for your entire family. Thanks to this building process, EverGreen boasts the 30RLS-5 is more durable and will last longer because it will resist water, rot, mold, mildew and deterioration, extending the life and resale value of your fifth wheel.
Built on a 6” solid I-beam chassis, the 30RLS-5 boasts ComposiTek Construction, which uses sustainable, eco-friendly, composite materials instead of wood. It can be found in the aluminum framed bonded floor, the high-gloss aluminum framed bonded walls and aluminum framed bonded roof. It is made out of a seamless thermoplastic substrate comprised of polyproprolene resin reinforced with continuous bi-directional fibers. So, what does this mean to you? It means that it will last longer, stand up to the elements and will absorb energy, so you don’t pay as much to heat or cool your RV. EverGreen also uses a vacuum laminated process in the construction of the structural frame of double-welded aluminum, which creates one-piece, seamless, rigid walls, floors and roof for less flex and sway down the road. Other construction features to note include a fully enclosed and heated underbelly, deep tint radius safety glass windows, a fiberglass composite gel coated front fiberglass cap with LED lights and a power awning.
The ride to your destination will be smooth in the Ever-Lite fifth wheel, thanks to E-Z Lube hubs, nitrogen filled balanced tires and Ever-Lite Smooth Ride Suspension. And just in case you hit a big bump in the road and you need some help, it comes with 24/7/365 roadside assistance for tire failure. Once you get to the campground, setting up is easy, with four front and rear stabilizer jacks and electric front jacks with snap pins.
Other exterior features that will come in handy include cable and LCD TV bracket/hook up, a diamond plate front stone guard, oversized, lighted exterior pass-through storage, rain gutters and extended down spouts, composite baggage doors, 13,500 BTU ducted air conditioning and an outside shower.
Not to be outdone, the interior of the Ever-Lite 30RLS-5 will surround you in style and comfort. Offering stylish storage, you’ll find plenty of cabinetry that’s been screwed and glued in place and comes with solid wood mortised cabinet doors. Adding touches of elegance to the decor are ceiling crown moldings, decorative borders, and enhanced interior accents. To enjoy your view, it comes equipped with an extra large dinette window and jalousie crank-out windows. Other decorative interior touches include dual action interior ceiling lights, raised panel passage doors, wall mounted light switches and padded “No Crack” vinyl flooring.
One thing you’re sure to notice about the living area in the Ever-Lite 30RLS-5 is amount of seating. In addition to the two chairs and dinette, there’s also a Jackknife Steel Framed Sofa with optional air bed (or, you can choose to go with the Club Lounge option that features a sectional sofa). You’ll also find overhead cabinets and a 26” LCD TV.
Next to the living area is the kitchen. Thanks to a double door refrigerator/freezer, a three-burner range with a folding range cover and a convection microwave oven, feeding the family is convenient and easy. Other features that will come in handy include a power exhaust range hood (complete with a light), a wood knife rack, plywood drawers with ball bearing guides, mini-blinds and a composite sink with covers.
The bathroom is the next stop on our tour of the Ever-Lite 30RLS-5. Feel refreshed in full-sized shower, complete with surround, skylight, water saver hand sprayer and space maker radius shower rod and curtain. To make sure you look your best, there’s a large medicine cabinet/mirror and recessed overhead vanity light. Other bathroom features include a toothbrush holder, towel bar and power exhaust fan.
Making our way into the master bedroom, you’ll notice the queen-sized comfort fiber eco pillow top mattress that comes with a coordinating designer comforter and gas struts so you can store essentials under the bed. There are also bullet reading lights above the bed, extra large fixed night stands, a laundry chute and a TV jack and LCD TV bracket.
