2012 Evergreen IGo G318BHS Review

The 2012 Evergreen iGo Travel Trailer has eight floorplans to choose from, but we went with the G318BHS. It has an overall length of 35’7” and a height of 11’1”. It has a total dry weight of 6,315 lbs, hitch weight of 1,056 lbs, cargo carrying capacity of 1,381 lbs, and gross vehicle weight rating of 7,995 lbs. The iGo’s fresh-water capacity is 36 gallons, while gray water and black water tanks each has a capacity of 29 gallons.

Evergreen built the iGo on a steel I-beam frame, which is proven to be one of the most durable in the industry. The underbelly is enclosed, which helps stabilize the unit’s temperature. As well, the center is bolted down to create a solid floor to work with. Like all Evergreen products, the iGo’s sidewalls, floors, and roof are crafted with vacuum-laminated processes, creating an air-bubble-free environment. The frame is powder coated, which means the coat is smoother than most trailers and very durable. The front of the iGo has a large, pass-through storage compartment, closed by a compression latch that ensures your storage won’t spill onto the highway.

The 2012 Evergreen iGo Travel Trailer accommodates all your outdoor needs. Stargazing to your favorite Beatles album or to the wild drones of Enya is made possible with the iGo’s exterior speakers. Just turn off your porch light, turn up the volume, and wish on those shooting stars like it’s nobody’s business. And if that gets boring, hook up your TV to the outdoor 110V power outlet. The iGo also has an outdoor shower, porch light and double entry steps. If you love barbeques, you can also add an outdoor kitchen, which consists of a refrigerator and a portable gas grill.

Inside, the paneling on the walls, ceiling, and floor surface is not plywood. Instead of plywood, Evergreen uses ComposiTek, which is waterproof and resistant to the growth of mold. ComposiTek is an alternative to the lauan plywood used in most RVs, which is imported from tropical rainforests in South America and Indonesia.

At the front of the iGo is the master bedroom. If you want to watch a late night movie, swivel the TV in the entertainment cabinet into the bedroom. On the backside is a mirror. There’s a queen-sized bed with a nightstand on both sides, equipped with electric sockets for alarm clocks, phone chargers and whatever electronics you might have. If you lift the mattress, you’ll notice a big storage space for bulkier things like boxes or tools. Although the room is small, it features plenty of drawers to hide belongings, including a dual wardrobe. Unfortunately, the entertainment center is more like a small nook. You can listen to music with the AM/FM/CD player on surround sound, which comes with a USB/SD port.

In the kitchen you’ll find a full-size composite sink and gooseneck faucet built into an island-shaped countertop, giving the kitchen extra space. As well, a three-burner stone, built-in microwave, and double-door refrigerator/freezer are ready for your mealtime needs. Solid wood cabinetry is screwed and glued, so it should last for many years us use. Across from the kitchen is a dinette, where you can comfortably seat four people.

When nature calls, the Evergreen iGo’s bathroom is equipped with a foot-flush, porcelain toilet, making it easier to clean than the plastic ones that come in many RVs and trailers. Other bathroom features include a medicine cabinet with mirror, overhead light above the medicine cabinet for clearer vision, and either a full tub and a neo-angled shower.
