Somebody has finally done it! A feature-length documentary has been produced about a YouTube star. Jack Rebney is the subject, but most people know him better as Winnebago Man.

Winnebago Man has delighted and fascinated millions of viewers with his hilariously foul-mouthed outtakes from an RV sales video – one of the first and most infamous underground videos to be passed hand-to-hand on VHS tapes, before YouTube turned it into a full-blown viral phenomenon. If you’ve never seen the aforementioned YouTube clip, it’s available below the jump. Just be aware that the language is pretty raw.

Filmmaker Ben Steinbauer takes on the task of tracking down Rebney, who turns out to be more savvy, deep, and weird than Steinbauer could have imagined.

Original footage and the documentary trailer after the jump.

“I wanted to know the story behind the video and discovered that lots of people were as curious as I was,” says Steinbauer. “Once I started seriously trying to unravel the mystery of the outtakes, I realized that what I really wanted most was to meet Jack. And that’s how the film got started.”
