Getting away (not to mention setting up camp) has never been easier, thanks to the 2010 Coachmen Clipper Classic 1175 SC Folding Trailer. Making it simple to slide into family fun, the Clipper Classic’s roomy 1175 SC model is ideally suited for family camping. Able to sleep six comfortably, the Clipper Classic’s space-expanding slideout ensures there’s room for everyone.

If you’ve ever had to pull a camper behind you, you’ll know how important suspension is. The Clipper Classic comes equipped with Wide Trac suspension – one of the widest of any folding camper on the market. Featuring a wider stance, standard electric brakes and stronger axle beams, Coachman says it offers improved towing safety and stability. To make it even stronger, its steel frame is coated with an automotive E-Coat finish. The E-Coat is a 12-step cleaning and finishing process that applies multiple layers of protection to fully penetrate and coat inside and out.

Ensuring water never makes its way into this folding trailer, the Clipper Classic comes with Z-Rails on roof perimeter and sidewalls. This keeps the wood above water level collection points. Rain water is diverted away from the camper thanks to its full perimeter storm cuff, which prevents water from collecting on the sidewall caps. Plus, this extra material gives the tent a better fit around the unit, so bugs stay outside where they belong.

From top to bottom, the Coachmen folding camper built to be tough – in fact, its Dura Tuff. Its Dura Tuff roof comes with an extra wood layer and internal foam. This was done to improve stiffness while also reducing the possibility of damage due to inclement weather or road debris. Covered with a seamless exterior, a roof vent is located off to the side so air conditioning can be center-mounted without having to remove the vent, allowing you to use both.

There are a few unique features that come with the 1175 SC. The first is its redesigned upper screen door. This is designed to make installation easy while improving alignment and function. Additionally, its removable travel door stores out of the way when you’re not using it. Plus, this folding camper doubles as a toy hauler. Bring along the ATV or dirt bike as it’s built with an 6” I-Beam Frame, 5200 lb. rubber suspension axle for heavy cargo capacity and reinforced diamond plate front deck.

When you’re away from home for an extended period of time – whether it’s for a long weekend or a week-long getaway – you always want to make sure you’ve brought it all with you. And even though it’s a fold out, the Clipper Classic gives you plenty of storage space, so nothing gets left behind. Outfitted with Super Sliding Storage – a rugged 25 cubic foot rotocast plastic trunk – you can bring it all with you. This trunk slides in both directions on a patented mechanism that gives you full access to the trunk interior when the front bed pulled out. And, its trunk lids double as addition shelves or table tops – complete with cup holders – when you flip them over.

One of the problems that many folding trailer owners complain about is the bedding – it’s just not comfortable. Coachman has addressed that problem with a 1-1/4” laminated insulated bunkend and E-Z Rest Reversible mattresses. Boasting double the industry standard thickness, the bunkend is made from solid wood, and its steel reinforced frame filled with 1” thick high density foam and laminated with a wood panel on the top and bottom. Designed to offer superior comfort and warmth, the mattress’s insulation should keep you toasty while you catch some quality z’s. It’s softer on one side and firmer on the other – just flip it for your preference. In addition to the bed, the bedroom area also comes with a handy clothes hanger bar and a bed end light with a fan to keep you cool.

If you don’t have to rough it, why would you? You can cook with ease outside with the Coleman Grill Stove with electronic Ignition and multipurpose portable stand. This grill offers high-pressure cooking – perfect for burgers, hot dogs, steaks and so much more. Its 25-foot grill hose connects the Grill Stove right to the camper’s front gas bottle, so there’s no need to bring along a propane tank. To give the stove stable footing, its portable stand can also hold things like a cooler or a garbage bag, and when it’s not in use, it’s easy to store.

If the weather’s not agreeing with your outdoor cooking plans, whip up a feast inside. Equipped with a three-burner Wedgewood range, stainless steel sink, E-Z Swing over galley with a drawer, Radius Edge Hi-Pressure countertop, stainless steel sink and kitchen faucet with a 12 volt water pump, the Clipper Classic has got you covered for meal prep and clean up. Other features of note include an inside/outside dinette table, and Lakeside Maple Wood with natural touch finish on paneling and cabinet doors (they come with a special durable coating that resists scratches, moisture and marking).

For a folding camper, the Clipper Classic ($14,145) comes with a lot of unexpected features. You’ll appreciate the 12-volt ceiling lights for a bright-lit interior, lined side privacy drapes, under floor water tank, modular storage cabinet and the E-Z Glide Rollout Bunk System.
