2010 Coachmen Prism Review
Say you don’t want the size of a Class A motorhome, but you want all the amenities and comforts that come along with the bigger package. Coachmen claims that they’ve come up with a solution in the 2010 Prism Class C Motorhome.
Inspired by designer styling and attention to detail, the Prism is easy to drive while being easy on the eyes. The M240 floor plan offers restless RVers the essence of easy living and while providing the fuel economy of an SUV.
Offering exterior storage capacity of 52 cubic feet, the Prism is able to offer lots of room to move around inside, as it measures in with a width of 96”, a length of 24’ 11” and an interior height of 6’ 6”. For all of your extra equipment, it comes with pass-through storage that’s ideal for larger items.
Built on a Sprinter chassis and powered by a 3.0L Mercedes Benz engine, the Prism is nimble on the road while remaining easy on the pump (thanks to its aerodynamic design and efficient turbo diesel engine). And thanks to its shorter wheel base and sharp wheel cut, the Prism has a 54-foot turning radius, making it simple to turn around in cramped spaces.
In its quest to make life easier for owners, Coachmen has installed the N0-Mess Termination System in the Prism. This handy system makes dumping the tanks a breeze, as its swivel boom make hose storage and dumping clean and simple.
Sleek and rugged, the Prism’s exterior is built to look good while fending off the rigors of the road and elements. Constructed with Laminated high gloss sidewalls, laminated aluminum floor, fiberglass rear cap with spoiler, and fiberglass running boards, this motorhome is able to retain its good looks without sacrificing durability. On top, you’ll find a crowned and laminated roof and seamless TPO roof covering to keep the water running off the vehicle. Other exterior appointments that come in handy include a patio awning, power entrance step, 80” tall entrance door and towing hitch with seven way plug.
Because it needs to make the most of the space it has, the Prism’s interior has been designed to fit in as many features as it can. And on this front, it manages very well. Even features like the floor haven’t been overlooked. Providing warm, soft color and texture is its high-end Beauflor floor. Strong and durable, it resists scratches, moisture and mildew. Even more good news – it cleans easily with mild soap and water, and its slip-resistant surface gives you more peace-of-mind insurance. On top of that, it comes with a 10-year flooring manufacturer’s warranty. You can always choose the option of removable carpet that is easy to remove, so cleaning is hassle-free and gives you more flexibility if you want open floor space.
It’s the little things that make a difference and the stainless steel accents found around this coach really add a sleek and modern feel to the Prism’s interior. You’ll find stainless steel on things like the range and refrigerator, to the hardware to faucets. Also giving it a luxurious look is its ultra leather upholstery. Rich fabrics really make a difference, especially when you’re on the road.
Adding warmth to the interior decor is its Espresso Walnut cabinetry. Surrounding you overhead, in the kitchen, the bedroom and the bathroom, these cabinets are curved into the wall, giving the coach an upscale look and feel.
When you spend a lot of time on the road, the layout and amenities available in the cab are important. Drivers of the Prism have cruise control and a tilt steering wheel at their disposal, and as an upgrade, can choose to add on a LCD back-up camera, heated exterior mirrors and a portable GPS navigation system. Other features include dash air conditioning, power windows and locks, reclining pilot seats and leather captain’s chairs and dash appliqué.
Sometimes, in a smaller coach, the bathroom is overlooked due to size. Not so in the Prism. Additions such as the glass shower enclosure, frosted glass vessel sink and designer faucet will make you feel like you just stepped out of a high-end bath gallery.
In the living area there are plenty of plays to sit, relax and enjoy your time on the road. Complete with the euro chair, it’s a great spot to just hang out or even get some work done (as it comes with a flip-up laptop tray). And, with it lighter weight and streamline design, it’s easy to move around. Another place to put your feet up is the sofa that’s also a hide-away bed. When it’s time for a little shut eye, just pull out the bed to reveal a memory foam mattress.
There are other sleeping arrangements available. In the rear, you’ll find rear full size bed, complete with a bedspread and pillow shams. In the front, guests can make themselves comfortable in the cabover queen bed that comes with a privacy drape.
There’s even a kitchen in the Class C motorhome. The flush-mounted sink and range allow for more usable counter space, which really comes in handy. There’s also enough room to house a convection microwave and double-door refrigerator.
Other features of note included with the Prism include a 25,000 BTU furnace, a 13,500 BTU ducted roof air conditioner, and a wall-mounted thermostat.
