Are you planning your next RVing adventure in Ontario? There are plenty of destinations to choose from, but make sure to add Manitoulin Island to your list.

It is the largest freshwater island in the world and is surrounded by the pristine waters of Lake Huron. Nature lovers will be delighted by the island's over 100 lakes, extensive hiking trails, and stunning scenery. With its quiet roads, breathtaking views, and minimal traffic (only one traffic light on the entire island), Manitoulin Island is an ideal destination for RVers seeking an unforgettable experience.

Getting Here

Being an island, getting here does have some challenges, but whether you are coming from the south or north, you are in for a treat.

From the south: The  MS Chi-Cheemaun ferry operates between Tobermory on the Bruce Peninsula and South Baymouth on Manitoulin Island from May to October. The ferry ride takes about 2 hours and provides an adventurous experience as you travel across the sparkling waters of Georgian Bay. It is strongly advised to make reservations in advance.

From the north: Manitoulin Island is accessible via  Little Current Swing Bridge, one of the only swing bridges in Canada. The bridge connects the island to the mainland via Highway 6.
