2011 Dutchman Aerolite 195QB Review
If you’re looking to travel light while you’re on the road, the ultra lightweight 2011 Dutchman Aerolite travel trailer is worth investigating.
Dutchman says it designed this ultra light travel trailer to keep weight and wind resistance at a minimum for easy towability. And even though it is light, the Aerolite comes packed with all the features you would expect in a well appointed travel trailer. It also tows easily behind a minivan, crossover vehicle, SUV, or ½ ton truck, and is great tool for camping families who are always on the go.
Available in eight spacious floorplans, the Aerolite has a travel trailer to fit every lifestyle. We’re going to be taking a closer look at the 195QB model, which measures in with a length of 24’1”, a height of 10’ and a width of 8’.
Designed with an Areo-Dyne front profile, the Aerolite boasts maximum aerodynamics and fuel efficiency, which comes in handy if you’re on the road a lot. Its streamlined profile is designed to reduce air turbulence for a more stable ride while improving fuel efficiency.
Sometimes the outdoors throws some tough punches, so the Aerolite is built to stand up to the rigors of travel. It’s built with six-sided welded aluminum cage construction, while its roof, floor, sidewalls and rear wall feature five-way lamination and its exterior fibreglass is gel coated. The fully laminated aluminum framed roof also features 5″ laminate with a ducted air conditioner and a rain gutter with extended corner downspouts. On top of its tough exterior, the Aerolite is protected by the Armor Guard protection package. Its enclosed underbelly protects the bottom of trailer from road debris and damage while enhancing the aerodynamics of the trailer.
For the Aerolite’s frame construction, it utilizes a lightweight I-beam frame with E-coat finish and its 4″ square rear bumper comes equipped with sewer hose storage and is bike rack ready. For added safety and convenience, it comes with a dual battery tray, a 2 5/16″ coupler, hitch light, a break-away trailer switch, heavy duty safety chains and four corner stabilizer jacks. Other features you’ll appreciate include a 12V electric slide-out motor with override, nitrogen filled radial tires, a spare tire with cover, two 20 lb LP bottles with ABS cover and a folding entry step.
Designed to provide a smooth and stable ride, the Aerolite features a wide track suspension system and heavy duty axles. Plus, it comes equipped with four wheel electric drum brakes and easy lube hubs on its axles. It even comes with Acu-Weight certification, which means that it was weighed before leaving the factory.
Other exterior features of note include diamond plate rock guard, Pac-N-Play exterior storage, an exterior wash station with quick connect hose, an 120V exterior outlet, pass-thru storage and a slide-out two-burner outdoor stove.
The interior of the Aerolite is just as richly appointed as the exterior. You’ll be treated with residential furniture design with high grade fabrics, residential tile-like linoleum, fabric night shades in the living area and designer window treatments and wall boarder. Other interior features include a systems monitor panel, a 12V demand water pump switch, a slide room switch, an interior and exterior light switch, a fire extinguisher and LP/carbon monoxide/smoke detectors.
Storage space is always premium while on the road, so it’s a good thing the Aerolite comes with plenty of cabinetry. This trailer features a new cabinet design that boasts more storage space with full access cabinets and larger drawers. In the kitchen, storing food and utensils is easy thanks to a large galley storage pantry and a big space for pots and pans. Not only are they functional, they look good too – there are raised panel hardwood radiant oak cabinets doors in the galley, hardwood radiant oak doors and drawer fronts throughout and solid wood drawers with metal residential drawer glides.
On one side of the trailer is the master bedroom, your reprise from a hectic day of fun in the outdoors. Rest will come easy on a pillow top mattress complete with a designer bedroom package that includes a bedspread, headboard and window treatments. There’s even storage under that bed that’s easy to get to thanks to gas struts, as well as wardrobes to house all your clothes.
On the opposite side of this Dutchmen travel trailer is the well-appointed bathroom. Get cleaned off in the Fiberlink shower, complete with a skylight overhead and a glass shower door. Also in the bathroom is a foot flush toilet, a wood medicine cabinet with mirror, a powered roof vent, a toilet tissue holder and towel hooks.
Right in the middle of the trailer is where the kitchen and main living area. The kitchen comes with all the equipment you’d find at the one in your home. It comes with a double door six cubic foot gas/electric refrigerator, a microwave with a carousel, three-burner range with 17″ oven, range cover and a range hood with a 12V light and exhaust fan. Other kitchen features include 60/40 sink with high-rise galley faucet and sink cover.
In the living area, enjoy a meal sitting around the 74″ x 54″ oversized U-shaped dinette. It’s also the perfect place to watch your favorite shows, as it comes with 26″ flat screen HD LCD TV, 12V AM/FM/CD/DVD stereo with MP3 input, interior and exterior speakers, digital TV antenna with booster and is wired for cable and satellite.
