When the open roads call your name – repeatedly – it’s tough to camp under the stars night after night in small, cramped accommodations. If you’re serious about your RVing experience, then consider a more sophisticated way to rough it and take a tour of the 2010 Fleetwood Bounder Diesel Class A motorhome.

Available in five different floorplans, the Bounder Diesel offers a range of layout and amenities. We’ll be taking a tour of the 36B model, a spacious and well-designed motorhome with a full wall slide that comes equipped with everything you’ll need in the great outdoors.

Powered by a 340HP Cummins ISB 6.7L engine, the Bounder is built on a Freightliner chassis. Thanks to its air suspension, it’s smooth sailing to your destination, while its large one-piece bonded-in windshield gives the driver a clear view of the road ahead. If you’re bringing another vehicle along for the trip, the Bounder has a 5,000-pound weight distributing hitch receiver with 7-pin electrical hook-up. For your service center convenience, it has dual fuel fills (one on each side of the RV) and halogen headlamps light up the darkest night.

Built tough, this Fleetwood class A motorhome was designed to take on the elements, bumpy roads and other conditions the outdoors has to throw at it. Boasting a power bridge platform, Vacu-bond walls covered with smooth high gloss exterior tuff-coat fibreglass, Vacu-bond upper and lower floors and aluminum interlocking floor, wall and ceiling framing, you family is guaranteed years of happy memories. Other features that make the Bounder Diesel an attractive choice include heated water and holding tank compartments and Royal Tuff-Ply radius with ducted A/C.

Designed with aerodynamic bus styling, the Bounder turns heads with it full-body paint, a choice of four graphic colorways, fiberglass front and rear bumpers, fibreglass wheel wells and fiberglass front and rear caps with high mounted taillights. Great exterior perks that come standard include remote heated rear view mirrors, patio and entry door awning, awning rail and drip molding and dual pane windows with screens.

Whether you’re taking out the Bounder for a quick weekend jaunt or an extended vacation, it has enough storage space to bring along everything you might need. There’s a central utility compartment, lighted luggage compartments and full pass-through storage compartments. Also added for your packing and unpacking convenience are hidden, stainless steel latch rods, insulated aluminum luggage doors with single paddle metal latches and stainless steel hinges, as well as side swinging luggage doors.

Once inside, the Bounder is open and roomy, thanks in part to its tall 7-foot ceilings and slide out design. Living conditions can be kept at the perfect temperature with 20,000/25,000 BTU dual furnaces and dual roof mounted high-efficiency air conditioning, with a solar panel and chill grille on the front A/C system. As for the interior surroundings, the contemporary decor includes window coverings, a wood finish return air Intake for the furnace and woven Jacquard feature fabrics. The cabinetry adds a warm and inviting touch to the Bounder. With hardwood cabinet doors and drawers, large overhead cabinets with raised panel doors, radius corner cabinetry and pewter cabinet hardware, these cabinets look like they just stepped out of a designer showroom. Padding your feet, there’s plush carpet with carpet pad, and the vinyl flooring entry to the galley makes it easy to clean up spills and tracked-in dirt.

Sure, life on the open road can be great, but when you’re driving, it can be a bit uncomfortable, especially if you’re behind the wheel during long stretches. But the Bounder is prepared for that and has set out to make the cab as comfortable and effortless as possible. It starts with driver and front passenger Ultraleather Captain’s chairs, so feel free to adjust the reclining back or your seat position with slide and power controls, and find the right height with the Tilt/Telescoping Steering Wheel. Set your perfect climate with auto A/C heater combo, and pass the time with tunes from the AM/FM/CD stereo with Sirius Satellite Radio. Nice touches upfront include a sofa surface automotive dash and a passenger armrest with integrated magazine rack, and added safety amenities include adjustable 3-point seat belts and a color back-up monitor.

In the living area there is plenty of space to relax and to sleep. Here you’ll find a sleeper sofa and bunk beds, as well as a large dinette table for family meals. If you want to just put your feet up and watch some TV, you’re in luck – there’s a Samsung 32-inch LCD HDTV that’s satellite dish ready.

As for the kitchen, the Bounder comes full equipped. Appliances such as a 22-inch 3-burner, high-output cooktop, a convection microwave oven and a Norcold 9.5 cu. ft. refrigerator with ice maker offer all of the conveniences you left back at home. Clean and prep is made easy with a large double sink, solid surface countertops, single lever faucet with pull-out sprayer and a soap dispenser. Other kitchen features include cabinet toe kicks, under galley shelving and Fan-Tastic power roof vent with a wall switch.

Located in the back of the motorhome, the master bedroom will ensure that every night’s sleep is a good one. Equipped with a queen-sized bed and innerspring mattress, it’s covered by a designer bedspread and decor pillows. There’s plenty of room to store your clothes, as it boasts a Ventilated Rear Wardrobe w/Clothes Rod, a night stand and a linen closet. It’s also TV ready it you choose to upgrade to another television in this room.

The Bounder’s bathroom is spacious and feature filled. Complete with air conditioning venting, toilet tank San-T-Flush system and a porcelain toilet with water saver system, it seems as though the folks at Fleetwood have thought of everything. Getting ready for the day is easy with Glass Shower w/Skylight and make-up lights, and added touches such as brushed chrome bath accessories and cabinet toe kicks really make a difference. Other great bathroom features include a Fan-Tastic power roof vent with a wall switch and vinyl flooring.
