2018 Forest River Cherokee Wolf Pup 17RP Review
The Forest River Cherokee Wolf Pup toy hauler may be small but it’s mighty, providing all the functionality needed for full-family camping adventures. Among the toy haulers (there is also a series of Wolf Pup travel trailers) there are two floorplans available. We’re exploring the Wolf Pup 17RP
Due to its compact footprint, the Forest River Wolf Pup 17RP has a gross vehicle weight rating of just 4,999 lbs, a hitch weight of 400 lbs, an unloaded vehicle weight of 3,031 lbs, and a cargo carrying capacity of 1,968 lbs. It measures 20’ 2” long, 10’ 6” high, and 85” wide. It has a fresh water tank capacity of 32 gallons, and the gray and black water tanks can each hold up to 23 gallons. There is also a 6-gallon water heater.

An aerodynamic radius front profile helps with towability, making it easier to take turns and maneuver it into your campsite. High impact metal on the front end protects the surface from chips by road debris.
You’ll find outside storage space up near the front, and the unit is prepped for solar and an exterior television. A 10’ awning (or optional full-length awning), AM/FM CD stereo with inside and outdoor speakers, and an outside shower help to maximize your outdoor living.

Inside, there is plenty of space to haul all your toys between destinations and to sleep the whole family after a day of adventures. The back of the toy hauler opens up to become the 59’x71’ ramp door. When your toys are outside, the rollover sofa converts into a sleeping area. A table can also be set up in front of the sofa for meals, and then stowed away when cargo space is needed.
In the galley area, you have everything you need for basic meal preparation. There’s a two-burner cooktop with hood vent, sink, a microwave, and a two-way RV refrigerator. For storage, there is space under the sink and cooktop, and an open shelf above the refrigerator.
The wet bath, directly across from the cooktop and sink, has a foot-flush toilet and a hand wand.
Head to the front of the Wolf Pup 17RP to find the main sleeping area. It comprises a larger 50” bunk on the bottom and a 28” bunk on top.

Along the entry door wall, a large picture window lets in plenty of natural light and provides a great view. Above the sofa, there’s another window to provide a nice cross breeze for more comfortable sleeping on hot summer nights.
Keeping your family’s well-being in mind, the safety package includes a carbon monoxide detector, a propane detector, a smoke detector, a fire extinguisher, safety glass and exit windows.
