Sometimes, it’s easy to keep your weight down. And that holds especially true when it comes to the 2011 CrossRoads SlingShot Travel Trailer. The company’s lightest weight travel trailer can be towed by a van, small SUV, or light duty truck, and while very light, it still manages to pack in plenty of comfort and convenience.

The SlingShot comes in 12 different floorplans, so you can pick the layout that suits your traveling lifestyle. Since we only have time to take you around one, we decided on the GT29BH, a bunk house trailer that measures in with an exterior length of 29’11”, an exterior height if 9′ 8″, and a weight of 4,100 lbs.

In order for your trailer to make trips year after year, it’s important that it stands up to the test of time and the harsh conditions that come with the outdoors. And with the SlingShot, you should have happy camping memories for years to come, thanks to its all aluminum construction. Covered by gel coated filon exterior walls that give it an extra layer of durability, it also comes with a laminated aluminum framed floor that is 2″ thick and a stamped galvanized 5″ thick crowned rafter. Making it easy to tow, the SlingShot’s aerodynamic fender skirts, secure stance axles, nitro filled radial tires and E-Z lube axles make the ride smooth and stable. Other features include manual stabilizer jacks and front diamond plating.

If you’ve got lots of equipment to come with you, you’ll really appreciate the large lighted pass-through storage that comes equipped with insulated lockable radius baggage doors. A front covered stone/mud shield keeps the trailer protected from flying debris on the road, while an E-Z winterizer kit keeps things toasty when the weather starts to cool. Other exterior features include two 20-pound propane bottles with a cover, a dual battery rack over the A-frame, a patio security light, a black tank flush, a radius entrance door, scare lights and an LP quick disconnect for grills/accessories.

Safety should always come first, so it’s a good thing the SlingShot comes with a host of safety features. Your peace of mind is assured with wheel electric brakes, a break-away switch and heavy duty safety chains. Extras such as multiple emergency egress windows, a dead-bolt lock on entrance doors and a manual override on slide system, as well as a carbon monoxide detector, smoke alarm and a propane gas leak detector add to the impressive list of safety extras.

With your well-being in mind, the SlingShot offers all the amenities you’ll need to live in comfort. Equipped with a 13.5 BTU ducted air conditioner and an 18,000 BTU forced air furnace, you’ll be able to use this travel trailer year round. For your water needs, it comes with a six-gallon gas/electric DSI water heater, plus its water system is winterization ready. And you can keep track of all of the SlingShot’s functions with the convenience center, complete with slide, lights and water system controls.

You’ll really enjoy your downtime, as the SlingShot’s interior features make relaxing and enjoying your surroundings easy. Panoramic view windows throughout always provide a beautiful view, and when it’s time for bed, there are fabric shades in main living and bedroom area. Residential grade durable linoleum will stand up to the test of heavy foot traffic, while residential style furniture with high grade fabric offer you and your family a spot to take a load off. Other interior features include a digital TV/cable system, a 12 volt CD/DVD/AM/FM stereo with MP3 input and 12 volt satin nickel lights with wall switches.

Sit down for meals or game night with the large U-shaped dinette, and there’s plenty of space for the kids to sleep thanks to overhead bunk beds.

The kitchen opens up to the living area, making the most of the space available. This room is dressed to impress, with residential hardwood cabinet doors in Tuscan Maple or Cherry, deco glass inserts and coordinated wall paper boarder. But it’s not all about looks – the kitchen is full of function and practicality. In the way of appliances, it comes with a 6 cu. ft. refrigerator and an oven with a hood. There’s also a residential sink with high rise faucet, large pantries and cabinet space for pots and an oversized sink with a high faucet.
