2011 TrailManor Elkmont 26 Review
Looking to drop some weight this summer in anticipation of that upcoming vacation? Shed those pounds by travelling in the 2011 TrailManor Elkmont Travel Trailer. Tipping the scales with a base dry weight of just 2,918 lbs., the Elkmont is sleek, slim and looks good in a Speedo (ok, maybe not that last one).
Strong, stylish, and easy-to-tow, the Elkmont is a great trailer for the active family. Available in three floorplans, we’ll be focusing our attention of the Elkmont 26, the largest model in the series. This plan measures in with a length of 26’ 9”, a height of 9’ 9” and a width of 7’ 6”. It also comes with a fresh water tank capacity of 20 gal., a waste water tank capacity of 15 gal. and a gray water tank capacity of 30 gal.
By employing the technology used in its line of folding trailers, TrailManor’s Elkmont features hardwall panelized construction that is light and doesn’t sacrifice strength. Hundreds of pounds lighter than a comparable model, you can tow the Elkmont with a smaller vehicle and pack more gear for your trip. By using innovative engineering, as well as aircraft technology and materials, the Elkmont keeps its weight down and its strength up. For superior durability, the walls are made from light insulating polystyrene foam sandwiched between aluminum. Another plus is that you won’t find any particleboard or chipboard anywhere in the trailer. Even the floors and countertops are foam filled, which reduces towing weight. Other construction features include a 3” laminated floor, a metal underbelly, a 2” by 5” steel frame and a Kystal Kote exterior.
To keep the ride stress-free, TrailManor used computer design to locate the axle position so that trailer sway is minimized. It also comes equipped with rubber torsion axles, independent suspension, radial tires and optional alloy wheels for a smooth ride. For style, visibility and safety, it has LED lights, as well as 10” electric brakes on all wheels. Once you get to your destination, its electric tongue jack means setup is fast (optional level jacks can also be operated by remote control).
Other exterior features include an outside shower, side patio lights, an awning, rear bike receiver and plumb with quick connect for outside grill.
The Elkmont is all about convenience. While you’re out on the road, you’ll stay comfy thanks to its low profile roof air conditioner and Suburban 20,000 BTU auto ignition furnace. In the way of power, it comes with a 12-volt electrical system with 55 amps, a power converter, a battery charger and 110 volt outside receptacle, and for water, a 12-volt demand water system, city water hook-up and a 6-gallon DSI gas/electric water heater.
Just because it’s a trailer doesn’t mean it scrimps on interior amenities. The Elkmont makes the most of its space, giving owners plenty of room to move around and providing many of the comforts of home. Little things like custom upholstery, maple cabinets, custom lighting and window treatments add to its elegance.
As you walk in, you’re greeted by an open-concept living/dining area and kitchen. The kitchen comes with a full arsenal of appliances, including a Wedgewood 3-burner stove with oven, a Norcold 3-way refrigerator, and a microwave. To store all your dishes and sundries, you’ll find plenty of cabinets and a pantry. And finishing off the look are marble-look countertops, wood grain floors and a stove cover.
In the living/dining area, there’s a dinette with bench seating that’s perfect for eating meals or playing a game of cards. If you really like to relax, choose to put in the optional HDTV in the living room, which you can watch while sitting on the pull-out sofa that comes in handy when you have guests staying over.
What’s great about the Elkmont travel trailer is that it comes with its own private bedroom. From the comfort of the walkaround queen size bed, you can watch your favorite shows on the wall-mounted high definition TV. Other features found in the bedroom include two front wardrobes and a bedroom privacy curtain.
And completing the full functionality of the Elkmont is its bathroom. There’s no need to worry about hoofing it to the outhouse or communal shower area – the Elkmont comes with a tub and shower, plus a conventional toilet.
Other features that come standard in the 2011 Elkmont 26 include roof vents with 12-volt lights, a monitor panel, smoke detector, CO and LP gas detector, park cable hookup, AM/FM radio/CD player, black frame dark tint windows and a Fantastic Vent ceiling fan. If you want something extra, you can upgrade to an awning, electric tongue jack, satellite dish/TV antenna combination, 80-watt solar panel with digital control, a stainless steel Magma grill, a 22” LCD TV with DVD player, black frame windows with darker tint and ultra leather interior seating.
