When it comes time to ditch suburbia and head for the hills, you want to shoot down the road with ease and style. And the flashy 2012 CrossRoads SlingShot will help get you to your destination in a flash. As the RV company’s lightest weight travel trailer, you’ll be able to haul the SlingShot with a van, small SUV, or light duty truck. But don’t worry – just because it’s light in weight, it doesn’t mean it scrimps when it comes to comfort and convenience.

There is no shortage of floorplans available for the Slingshot – 14 in total – but we’ll be taking a closer look at the GT32QB, one of the large models in the series. The GT32QB has an exterior length of 32.67’, an exterior height of 116”, an interior length of 32’ and an interior height of 8’. It has a dry weight of 4,169 lbs, GVWR of 7,373 lbs and hitch weight of 486 lbs. For water, it has a 32-gallon fresh water tank, 26-gallon gray water tank and 26-gallon black water tank. For four-season comfort, the SlingShot comes with an 18,000 BTU forced air furnace and 13,500 BTU ducted air conditioner.

It may be lightweight, but that doesn’t mean the SlingShot isn’t built tough. The roof is constructed with a one-piece rubber roof (complete with 12-year manufacturer’s warranty), roof decking and 16″ OC metal roof rafters. Built on an I-beam frame, the sidewalls feature insulation, Lamilux fiberglass exterior and aluminum front and back. On the floor, there are 16″ OC aluminum floor joists, insulation, 5/8″ tongue and groove plywood floor decking and Diamond plate stone guard. As well, it contains a fully enclosed underbelly with heated tanks and 4″ x 4″ bumper for sewer hose storage.

For the ride to the campground, the CrossRoads Slingshot is equipped with the Secure Stance, which provides 15 inches of width for safer and easier towing. It also comes standard with 14″ radial tires and white spoke rims, making sure it looks sharp while giving you a smooth ride.

Other exterior features include large capacity cargo storage, tinted safety glass windows, patio awning, two exterior speakers and lighted entryway. If you want your SlingShot pimped out, you may consider adding on the following options: bumper mount grill, exterior towel rack, power awning, power stabilizer jacks and power tongue jack.

Let’s move inside the CrossRoads SlingShot GT32QB. This is a great floorplan for the family, as the kids have the run of the back of the trailer that comes equipped with a junior dinette that converts into a bunk bed. This area also comes with three bunk beds and a wardrobe closet. And if the kids are noisy, the passage door separates this bunk area from the family room. Throughout the trailer, the floor is covered with linoleum, which makes it easy to clean up after your messy campers.

The living area is the perfect place to chill with the family. This room comes with a U-shaped dinette, entertainment centre (complete with 12 Volt CD/DVD/AM/FM stereo with MP3 input and optional 24″ LCD TV) and sofa.

The kitchen comes fully loaded with a bevy of appliances and features that make life of the road much more convenient and comfortable. In the way of appliances, the SlingShot has a two-burner high output range and 6 cu. ft. double door refrigerator. The oversized residential sink comes with a high-rise faucet, and the cabinets come with residential hardwood doors and satin nickel cabinet inserts. Other kitchen features include a built-in spice rack.

The master bedroom is all about the parents. Giving you some much-needed peace and quiet, the bedroom comes equipped with queen-sized bed that’s covered by a matching bedspread. For all your clothes and accessories, the bedroom has plenty of storage solutions, including wardrobes and overhead shelves. Rotational reading lights help complete this adult sanctuary.

And what travel trailer would be complete without a bathroom. The SlingShot won’t disappoint – this bathroom has a 34″ x 34″ garden shower with radius shower curtain and white foot-flush toilet. Other bathroom features include a 12 Volt exhaust fan with tinted skylight, medicine cabinet with mirror, and residential hardwood cabinet doors.

If you like to add on the options, there are a few that you can choose to upgrade with, including microwave, 15,000 BTU air conditioner, and Fantastic Fan.
