The compact 2014 Siesta Sprinter from Thor Motor Coach combines convenience, efficiency and a touch of elegance.

Three floorplans are available to choose from – we’ll be exploring the 24SA. While its design is efficient in space, its layout feels surprisingly likes that of a cozy home. The Sprinter has exterior length of 24’6”, exterior height of 10’10”, exterior width of 90” and interior height of 80”. It has a fuel capacity of 26.4 gallons, fresh water capacity of 40 gallons, black water capacity of 38 gallons and gray water capacity of 34 gallons. The water heater swallows six gallons. Its wheelbase is 170.3” and it comes standard with a 25,000 BTU furnace.

Built on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 3500 chassis, this Class C motorhome is powered by a BlueTEC Turbo Diesel engine, making for a highly reliable RV. Both the floor and roof are fully welded with tubular aluminum. The entire body, including the sidewalls, is Vacu-Bond laminated with high-density block foam insulation. While the floor features Tek-Moto floor decking, the sidewalls feature cage construction. Front and rear caps are made from one-piece fiberglass. As well, the unit features seamless roto-cast storage compartments, side-hinged slab luggage doors and a premium one-piece TPO roof.

To pass time while cruising on never-ending freeways, the driver can utilize his Pioneer touch screen AM/FM/CD/MP3 dash radio. It includes an iPod compartment and Sirius satellite radio. For safety, the windows and doors have power locks, while the driver and passenger are secured with three-point seatbelts and protected by airbags. With black leatherette captain’s chairs, hours on the road can be spent in comfort. Dirty shoes can be wiped on the cockpit carpet mat.

Walking in, you’ll instantly be calmed by the European-style, cherry cabinetry. With hidden hinges and soft curves, the Sprinter displays a humble elegance that most RVs fail to attain. All hardware is finished with brushed nickel. The soft vinyl ceiling features fluorescent lighting and contains a ceiling ducted air conditioning system.

Long road trips require fuel – that’s why the kitchen is arguably the second most important room in your RV. The 2014 Thor Motor Coach Siesta Sprinter features a double-door refrigerator that has stainless steel door inserts. A two-burner high-input gas range top comes with a glass cover. Moving the cooling smells outside is a stainless steel power range hood. The microwave oven is also stainless steel, along with the sink bowl, which features a gooseneck faucet. If you’re serious about cooking, you can also request a solid surface kitchen countertop. Family members can enjoy meals at the booth dinette, located beside a large window, equipped with nightshades.

After a long day of driving, recharge in your bed. Although there is no official bedroom, we like the comfy Queen Size bed, which comes with with a bedspread and pillow shams. Bookworms will also love the directional reading lights. Travelers will appreciate the ample storage space. The closet is located beside the dinette and contains enough space to hide clothes and shoes.

Located beside the bed is the bathroom. Small and simple, it has everything you need. Features include a China bowl toilet, power bath vent and rectangular shower with a glass door. As well, a skylight in the shower brings some natural light into the RV and saves you precious pennies on electricity.

Modern entertainment might not be a priority for Siesta Sprinter owners, but no home is complete without its entertainment center. Watch your favourite movies on the 22” LCD television, which also comes with a DVD entertainment system. If you’re a slave to Mac products then you’ll be happy with the iPod outlet. Other extras include a television antenna and booster, along with cable and HD/DSS satellite prep.
