2016 Heartland Fairfield FF 405 FL Review
The Heartland Fairfield feels like home, even when you’re miles away. Six Fairfield Destination trailers are offered along with four Fairfield Destination Limited trailers. We will explore the FF 405 FL Destination Trailer because we like its residential layout and spacious living room.
Looking into the numbers of the FF 405 FL we see a gross vehicle weight rating of 13,000 lbs, hitch weight of 1,986 lbs, dry weight of 11,546 lbs, and carrying capacity of 1,454 lbs. For measurements, the Fairfield has a width of 8’6”, length of 41’6”, and height of 12’9”. For liquids, it has a fresh tank capacity of 41 gallons, black tank capacity of 37 gallons, and gray tank capacity of 111 gallons. Equipped with three slides, Heartland says the Fairfield FF 405 FL can sleep four people comfortably.
Built for long distances and changing climates, the Fairfield has a heated and enclosed underbelly and Formaldehyde-free insulation. The detachable hitch makes it easy to hitch up and go, while the triple front and rear steps make it easy to walk in and out. On the outside of the unit, it’s obvious Heartland spent much time considering the exterior of this trailer. When hosting outdoor barbeques, you can make use of the rollout awning. After a long and muddy day on the trails, you can rinse your feet off using the outdoor shower. Fairfield FF 405 FL has an Atrium fiberglass front cap and laminated fiberglass sidewalls, while the Dual 30# LP gas bottles come with a cover. The sliding patio door comes with a white plastic grab handle and the exterior cable has satellite hook-up. To ensure your privacy, the safety glass windows are tinted.
When you walk into the living room, you feel right at home. Warming the space are the beautiful all-wood cabinets, which feature hardwood cabinet doors. All the drawers have full extension ball bearing drawer guides, making them easy to open and close. Crown moulding and fabric covered box valances add style to the living room. To amp up the glam, living room windows have Venetian wood blinds. Full size tri-fold sofa and glider recliners are perfect for relaxing after a day of hiking. For entertainment, the Fairfield is equipped with an AM/FM radio, CD/DVD Player, Bluetooth and Aux input with exterior speakers. If you like electronics, then you can request a 32” LCD TV, and if you like old-fashioned class, you can request an electric fireplace.
When you get hungry, there’s no need to look for the closest diner on your GPS; just walk over to the kitchen. Equipped with residential appliances, the spacious kitchen allows you to prep, cook and wash comfortably. You can store plates in the overhead cabinetry, perishables in the pantry, food in the large refrigerator and dirty dishes in the deep sink. The sink has a high-rise faucet with a pull-out sprayer so washing and rinsing doesn’t have to get messy. Four burners are fitted to the freestanding residential range and the microwave has a hood-fan combo. When you’ve prepared dinner, serve it at the four-person dinette. The dining area is located beside a large window, giving your dinner guests a beautiful view of the scenery outside, whether you’re in the middle of the woods or the middle of a busy parking lot.

After a day of trekking or driving in the heat, you’ll want to clean yourself up. The bathroom is equipped with the basic necessities, helping you stay comfortable and clean on long journeys. The porcelain toilet has a foot pedal, and the shower has a skylight and glass door. If you’re picky about bathrooms, you can request a residential toilet at an extra price.
When you’re finally ready to call it a day, head to the Master Bedroom. Equipped with residential furniture, you’ll have everything you need for a good night’s sleep. The residential mattress is covered in a deluxe bedspread, and the bed comes with a padded headboard. Night shades block out all light, so no matter what time of day it is, you won’t be bothered by lights and distractions from outside. Beautiful wood cabinetry is found throughout the bedroom, providing you with lots of space to store clothes and electronics. You can request a television, as well. If you want to keep cool and keep the air flowing, request a ceiling paddle fan.
