2018 Nexus Phantom 31P Review
Nexus RV prioritizes building strong, safe motorhomes and its Phantom Class C motorhome is a great example of this, making it a great option for a family with young children.
The Phantom 31P is one of the three Phantom floorplans available. It seats up to six people and sleeps up to eight, making it a great option for a family. It has a gross vehicle weight rating of 14,500 lbs and a 7500 lb. hitch. It measures 31’7” long, 11’3” high (with the A/C unit), and 8’5” wide. Its fresh water tank has a 40-gallon capacity, and the grey and black water tank each have a 28-gallon capacity.
Nexus built the Phantom Class C on a Ford E450 chassis with a V10 gas engine and a 55-gallon fuel tank. Part of what makes Nexus motorhomes strong and safe is their ‘no-wood’ wall construction. The Phantom 31P has all-steel cage construction, Azdel substrate, and fiberglass exterior, including a seamless fiberglass roof and pre-molded fiberglass front cap.
Some of the other features you’ll find on the motorhome’s exterior include heated and remote controlled mirrors, an electric patio awning with LED light, outside shower, and an exterior TV cable jack in case you want to bring movie night outdoors.

Inside, the 6’ 10” ceiling height, glazed maple raised-panel hardwood cabinetry (dark wood is available as an option), and nickel pull handles help to give the space a home-like feel.
In the cab area, a power driver seat, touch screen stereo with back-up camera and Bluetooth and Sirius capabilities add to a comfortable and easy driving experience.
A cabover bunk sleeps two and the motorhome’s 30” television is mounted up here as well. It articulates out so that it can also be easily viewed from the jackknife sofa in the main living area. The sofa has two safety belts and converts into two more sleeping spaces. Right next to that, the dream booth dinette has two more safety belts and, again, gives you two more sleeping spots.

In the kitchen area, the 7.5 cubic foot refrigerator with freezer has raised panel doors to blend in more seamlessly with the cabinetry. A built-in glass top on the three-burner range adds more surface area when done and then, when cooking, flips up to work double duty as a backsplash. Above that, there’s a microwave with a range vent/fan, or you can opt for a convection oven instead. The large, single bowl sink is nice and deep and easily accommodates a meal’s worth of pots, pans, and dishes. A pop-up electrical outlet tucks away into the counter when not in use.
The bathroom is a split bath, with the molded one-piece shower on one side, and the porcelain toilet on the other. You can also swing the door out to block off the entire space from the main living area. There’s a nice large, two-door mirrored medicine cabinet, a stainless steel sink with lots of counter space beside it and storage underneath. In the shower, the head and hose are flexible and adjustable height. There’s also a skylight and electric roof vent.

In the bedroom, the motorhome’s second slide gives you a full, extra wide mirrored wardrobe with three doors and drawers underneath, as well as three over-bed cabinets and another shirt closet on the other side of the bed.
