2018 Thor A.C.E. 30.3 Review

Thor Motor Coach touts its 2018 A.C.E. as a coach that offers the best of both Class A and Class C motorhomes. While by strict definition it is a Class A motorhome, the A.C.E. does borrow some features from the more compact category that make it a more approachable option for many.

There are six A.C.E. floor plans to choose from. The A.C.E. 30.3 has double slide-outs, seatbelts and sleeping space for six people, and an outdoor kitchen and television.

The Thor A.C.E. 30.3 has a gross vehicle weight rating of 18,000 lbs and gross combined weight rating of 23,000 lbs. It measures 31’ long (without the rear ladder), 12’ 2” high (without the a/c unit), and 99” wide. As well, it comes equipped with an 80-gallon fuel capacity, 88 lbs of propane capacity, 50 gallons of fresh water capacity, and 40 gallons each of gray and black water capacity.

Built on a Ford F-53 chassis, the Thor A.C.E. 30.3 has a one-piece panoramic windshield, heated remote side mirrors with integrated cameras, HD-MAX fiberglass exterior, tinted frameless windows, and automatic leveling jacks with touch controls. A ladder at the rear gives you easy access to the roof, and there are plenty of storage compartments on both the patio and driver side.

You’ll be able to make the most out of RV living come rain or intense sun with the very wide 19’ power patio awning. That’s plenty of space to enjoy the outdoor entertainment center’s 32” television and exterior speakers. The outdoor kitchen has a sink and a 2.6-cubic-foot refrigerator, which means you won’t need to keep trekking back inside for snacks and drinks.

Inside the coach, residential wood plank-look vinyl flooring throughout gives the A.C.E. a high-end look. The cab has a tilt steering wheel with cruise control, Bluetooth touch screen AM/FM radio and back-up monitor, passenger work station, reclining captain and passenger swivel seats, and small round stowaway table that fits between the two for a comfy game of cards. Overhead, there’s a power drop-down hideaway bunk with ladder, a feature borrowed from Class C motorhome style.

Moving into the main living area, a leatherette jackknife sofabed faces the 40” television, which retracts down under the kitchen counter when not in use. The motorhome is cable TV-ready and has a Bluray player.

The kitchen area has generous counter space, an oversized stainless steel sink basin with a residential highrise faucet with pull down sprayer, and a glass tile backsplash. Kitchen appliances are a three-burner stove, oven, microwave, and a six-cubic-foot refrigerator and freezer. As well as cabinets and drawers, storage options include a pantry and a coat/broom closet with hooks. Across from the meal prep zone, the dream dinette also has storage underneath the benches and, at night, it converts easily into sleeping space for two.

Heading towards the back of the motorhome, the split bath has a stainless steel sink, mirror, linen cabinets, foot flush porcelain toilet, and power vent. The shower has a glass door and skylight and – for your four-legged family member – there’s a pull-out ‘kibble station’ drawer underneath (and out of the way of the main living space) with two compartments for food and water.

In the bedroom, the queen-size bed has a designer headboard, bedspread, and pillow shams. There is also a shelf on each side, as well as a window for a nice cross breeze. Overhead cabinets and a large mirrored wardrobe with drawers provide ample storage space. There’s a 32” television for cozy bedtime viewing, and a Bluetooth radio system that works with the motorhome’s exterior speakers.
