(1)By Allan Tacka (Owner) on Nov 25, 2013First of all we have a large family, 2 adults, 6 kids (ages 19,17,15,10,8,6) and 4 dogs (2 West Highland Terriers, 1 Basset Hound and 1 Australian Shepherd) so we needed a large RV to hold everyone. The Jayco Eagle 355 FBHS seemed like the perfect fit for us. It sleeps 10 on paper but it is more realistic ... to say it sleeps 8. We loved the fact that it has 2 toilets, 1 in the main bathroom and 1 in the rear master bedroom. This is important when you have 6 kids and somebody always has to go! It's also nice that 2 kids can brush teeth etc. at the same time. It also has 2 exit doors, 1 in the main living area and 1 that is in the rear bathroom, It seems odd to have an exit in a restroom but it is really great when you are camping and everyone is outside playing and covered in sand/dirt/snow, etc. and the urge strikes them.....you open the back door and nothing gets tracked through the coach that must be cleaned up later. It has tons a cabinets and cupboards to store all the goodies you will need for a 2 week trip. The 2 A/C units keep the 5th wheel cool in the summer months but the furnace doesn't keep the back of the 5th wheel warm enough in the cold winter months without making the front bedroom uncomfortably hot. You will want a small space heater for the rear bedroom if you are using this unit in the winter. The 5th wheel has 2 black water tanks and 2 grey water tanks, one black water tank for each toilet (front and rear) and one grey water tank for the kitchen sink, shower and main bathroom sink and an additional grey water tank for the master bathroom sink. (it takes a little while to get used to dumping 4 holding tanks) The living area is about the same as most RV's, couch, dinette, kitchen all in one area. The built-in TV has surround sound and a subwoofer. A ceiling fan is nice in the summer months to keep the air moving. Overall we really like our Jayco but there are a few things that I don't like. 1st: The rear 1/2 bathroom is really small and is a bit uncomfortable to use if you are tall 2nd: The hot water tank by-pass is difficult to get to (behind a drawer under the refrigerator. Jayco has a great panel with all of the winterizing switches and knobs in the outside compartment with the exception of the by-pass which you must crawl on your hands and knees to get to. (bad design) 3rd: The 5th wheel has power jacks on the front but hand crank jacks on the rear. Not a big deal really....but they could have charged an extra $500 and installed them at the factory. 4th: The 2 sewer lines are 10 feet apart and the front one is under the slide-out which makes it difficult to reach if the slide is open. Also the distance between the connections may make it hard to park in a spot so that you can drain all 4 tanks. 5th: The city water connection is at the front/middle of the coach while most faucets are at the rear of the RV space. (bring 2 hoses so you can reach) The Jayco is a great 5th wheel and works well with our crew. I would recommend this model if you travel with kids.Read More
