Adorable Trailer for One
By Cathryn Smart (I am an Owner) on Feb 17, 2013This little trailer attracts attention wherever it goes. One person described it as a cute little postage stamp! I bought it because it was in the right proportion for my Honda Pilot to haul. The best feature about it is its ample storage space. My daughter and I have lived several weeks in it together, ... sometimes, and each of us has had separate space for clothing and supplies. The outside trunk is accessible from the inside, too, which is helpful. A feature that in my opinion needs some major re-design is the table. It is heavy and awkward to use. There's almost no room to get into the sink-side seat, and the mechanism to swing the table up and down is cumbersome. It is difficult to lift up and over when we want to change table positions. The table is also permanently attached to the wall. If it weren't,and if it were lighter, it could have more functions, indoor and outdoor. As it is, we leave it down all the time and use the area underneath it for storage of utility buckets, with one bed made up above it. The electrical system seems to be weak. Our first time out, one of the fuses blew, not because it was overloaded, but because (if the repair person was correct) it was undersized. Also, there's no way to shut off the appliances that are on standby all the time (microwave, radio, etc.). The lack of a shutoff feature drains the battery. The instruction book reminds owners to disconnect the battery when it is in storage, but unless the unit is plugged in when you're on the road, these ancillary systems use power. At it's best, this unit serves well for one person. In that mode, you can leave the table up and sleep on the "couch." You have plenty of room for supplies and clothing. Single occupant or double, don't expect much from the shower, though. It serves in a pinch, but the water pressure is low. Other plumbing features seem to work well. Finally, a note about hauling. You need mirror extenders to be able to see around the unit, especially on the right side. Also, a sway bar keeps it from fishtailing; yet, that same sway bar makes it difficult to back up. Removing the sway bar before reversing helps. Also, just because the unit is small doesn't mean hauling it is inexpensive. My gas mileage cuts in half when we're hauling. 2,000 miles translates into 200 gallons of gas! Overall, if you are graduating from tent camping, as we were, this little trailer may be just the transition you need. You lose the freedom of being able to pack the tent into the car, but you gain freedom from the weather, and you will be able to camp in many more campgrounds because, technically, you're in an RV. Besides, you get all those compliments. Enjoy!Rating breakdown
