When you’re ready to get out and hit the open road, you don’t want to be tied down with heavy details – you just want to go! Lucky for you, there’s the 2010 Airstream Sport line of travel trailers, perfect for those who just want to hitch up and get going.

A premium compact trailer that lets you live large, the Sport is lightweight and nimble. Available in three floorplans, we’re going to take you around the 22FB, a model that maximizes space, is roomy, airy and offers plenty of comfort. Measuring in with a length of 21’ 8”, the 22FB has an exterior width of 7’ 3 1/4”, an interior width of 6’ 11 3/4” and an interior height of 75”. Able to sleep two to four people, the 22FB is the ideal size for a couple of adventurers or a small family.

It may look silver from the outside, but this Airstream travel trail is really green. Built to last, it’s interesting to note that nearly 70 percent of all Airstream trailers ever produced are still on the road. Designed to be handed down to your kids, the Sports’ primary components (aluminum, steel, and wood) are easily recycled when its time to retire finally does come.

Thanks to its low profile and a rounded shape, the Sport is easy to tow – in fact, pulling it seems almost effortless. Offering a claimed 20 percent advantage in towing efficiency over standard “white box” trailers, the Sports’ ultralight weight allows it to be towed efficiently by many smaller and midsize sport utility vehicles, or even the family car, giving you outstanding fuel efficiency.

Built on a 4500-pound axle system, the Sport comes equipped with styled aluminum wheels, radial black wall tires and four stabilizer jacks. Outfitted with electric drum brakes for superior stopping power, this travel trailer also features a manual hitch jack with a jockey wheel, a spare tire and bracket and a single steel step.

This silver bullet is striking with bright aluminum finish, LED taillights with chrome accents and white finished roof. It’s as practical as it is shiny – it comes with an enclosed and insulated underbelly, coach guard wrap protectors and insulated and heated tanks. Finishing this exterior practicality are a C.S. and R.S. awning rail, a patio awning, solar stone guard, an LP bottle cover and an exterior shower.

With plenty of options included for your power needs, the Sport has got you covered. Outfitted with a deep cycle battery, it comes with a 55 amp converter with power center, 12 volt ATC fuses, 120 volt exterior outlet and a 30 amp with detachable power cord. Other lighting features include incandescent lighting and a step light. It even comes with an exterior lighting package that comes complete with a compartment light, solar pre-wire and seven-way trailer plug.

Making sure the environment is always at the right temperature, the Sport has a 13,500 BTU air conditioner with a manual control and a 12,000 BTU furnace. For all your water needs, you’ll find a six-gallon water heater with electronic ignition, a 20-gallon fresh water tank with drain valve, 18-gallon black water tank and a 24-gallon grey water tank. Other system features include a probeless tank monitoring system, a water heater by-pass kit, a water pressure regulator, and sewer hose storage.

You’d be surprised how feature packed the interior of the Sport is. Available in a range of decor options, the 22FB is sleek and stylish. Covered with an aluminum interior skin, this interior impresses with aluminum mini blinds, seamless vinyl flooring throughout and overheads with tambour doors.

In the open-concept living and dining area, the Sport maximizes every inch of space. The U-shaped dinette doubles as a sleeping area, while a 19-inch TV with built-in DVD player is ideal for a quiet evening of relaxation. In the galley you’ll find a laminated galley top, aluminum inserts on the refrigerator and a storage cabinet. It also comes with a fully functional kitchen for all your prep and cooking needs. The kitchen comes complete with a cooktop, a convection microwave, a 4.2 cu. ft. 3-way refrigerator and a sink with a faucet.

This compact travel trailer still comes with enough room for a bedroom. There’s an 83” x 54” fixed bed, complete with a foam mattress, as well as removable bed storage boxes and front overhead rooflockers for all of your clothes. Other features found in the bedroom include opaque privacy panels, a privacy curtain, a nightstand shelf, a Travasak sleep system, bed pillows and decorative throw pillows.

Last but not least, the Sport also comes with a bathroom, equipped with all the necessities you’ll need on the road. A round sink, toilet and stand-up shower come standard, and it even features a few extras. This includes an articulating shaving mirror with double sided magnification, a pleated shower door and a rear overhead utility shelf.

The 2010 Airstream Sport 22FB Travel Trailer retails for $40,571. More information can be found at http://www.airstream.com/.
