2015 Airstream Interstate Lounge EXT Wardrobe Review

Airstream‘s 2015 Interstate Lounge EXT is perhaps the most versatile RV on the market. This Class B motorhome sleeps up to eight people and features a large galley area, open floor space, and easy-to-access storage. As well, the EXT offers an additional 30 cubic feet of storage compared to the regular Interstate Lounge.

There are three Lounge EXT’s to choose from, but we’ll focus on the Lounge EXT Wardrobe. It has an overall length of 24’ 4.5”, overall height (with A/C) of 9’8”, overall width of 6’7.7”, interior height of 6’2.25”, and interior width of 5’10”. This model has a gross vehicle weight rating of 11,030 lbs, gross combined weight rating of 15,250 lbs, and towing capacity of up to 5,000 lbs. For liquids, the Lounge EXT Wardrobe has a fuel tank capacity of 26.4 gallons, freshwater capacity of 32 gallons, grey tank capacity of 27 gallons, black tank capacity of 13 gallons, and LPG capacity of 14.55 gallons.

On the outside, this RV looks like an oversized mini van from the future. It features a chrome enhancement kit and full body kit that includes an integrated hidden hitch cover. To protect it from bruises and scratches, the Lounge EXT has a 3M protective film on the rear bumper. Alcoa DuraBright forged aluminum wheels offer some eye-catching style. To ensure that Mother Nature never wins, the Lounge EXT is equipped with fog lamps, power heated mirrors and LED patio lights. An armless power awning comes with adjustable LED lights, while the rear screen doors are powered and slide, making them easy to open and close. To keep the inside clean, guests can quickly wash up using the exterior shower.

Let’s move on to the most important room of the house; the cockpit. Built to maximize the driver’s comfort, the cockpit has heated driver and passenger seats, along with door entry lighting. You can rest your feet on the custom floor mats and store valuables in the locking glove box or concealed storage compartment in the dash. Always keep a pair of sunglasses tucked away in the overhead compartment and use the overhead map lights when you’re trying to navigate at night. When you’re at a rest stop and need a quick nap, pull down the cockpit privacy shades.

Before we talk about EXT’s spacious living room, let’s talk about the actual space. When you look up, you’ll see an aluminum ceiling with trim and when you look down you’ll see plank-style synthetic flooring. Large windows and adjustable LED lighting help you set the mood. High gloss laminate cabinetry features flush-mount and solid shut cabinet hardware. Walls and window boxes boast Magic Suede. Combined with residential furniture and a solid entertainment center, the living room is the ideal space for entertaining guests and eating dinner. Guests have the choice of relaxing on the UltraLeather seating, power rear sofa or the additional rear seat. The Corian pedestal table can be used as a place to put cups and snacks. Entertainment needs are met with a 22” LED widescreen TV, Blu-Ray player, and rear stereo speakers. It’s pre-wired with HDMI cables and a satellite system.

If you’re hosting guests, you’ll probably want to feed them. Instead of going for a ride to the nearest fast food joint, whip something up in the Lounge EXT kitchen. You can prep food on the Corian countertop, which features a beautiful backsplash. Wash dishes in the sink, which comes with an integrated cover and fold-down faucet. You can heat food over the cooktop, which also comes with an integrated cover. If you’re feeling lazy, reheat frozen meals in the 1.2-cubic-foot microwave. For your convenience, the microwave comes with a drawer. Dinner is ideally served on the Corian pedestal table.

Last but not least, let’s talk about the bathroom. Although small in size, it has all the essentials, including toilet, shower, sink, mirror, and towel rack. A retractable clothesline in the bathroom gives you place to dry your clothes.

Storage space seems is impressive in the 2015 Airstream Interstate Lounge EXT Wardrobe. You can hide your belongings in the overhead storage lockers, under-sofa storage pass-through compartment, golf-bag storage, and in the Hidden Storage Solutions compartment.
